Hmmmm im not sure how you can keep such a high standard of quality. i only ever thought you have to use vDub and then use meGUI or manualGK to keep best quality. but dont take my word for it im sure people will have a much better way =)

There is no way to convert a .dem, it's will only load the map you played in and do the exact same things as when you played.

Who cares, you get his point - that's not helpful at all. He just wants to know a good method of doing it.

Worse quality, worse framerate, the ability to edit videos recorded with Fraps are awful

Yeah I know, the editing bit sucks, but with my Pc and my Pc Screen the quality is just like with demo smoother, and the framerate is not low on my computer, so that depends on your computer :S

Yeah, but the built-in recorder would still be better no matter what kind of a computer you'd be using. You can get excellent quality videos even if your computer isn't the best. And if you record it with 90+ fps (I prefer 120), the video is so damn smooth :D

But yeah, Fraps is easier but the built-in recorder doesn't take that much time once you get the hang of it.

Would that matter? I thought that in rendering it doesn't matter how good your computer is, it may only take more time. The end result will be top quality anyways

Yes. That, and you're probably using a crappy media player.

The tutorial Suckage linked to is the best way. No one says you need to use huffyuv, though, as you've noticed. If you have Xvid installed, you can use that, but there's no need to configure huffyuv and it IS lossless. (I think you could even use Fraps, but don't do that.) You can always convert it later. For recording and editing purposes, huffyuv is the best choice.

    That's nice.

If you're looking for help, we need more information. What exactly is the format? (And don't just say AVI) If you're following J2K's tutorial that Suckage linked to, did you remember to enable alpha?

    Tutorial

I have found this tutorial very useful, and works perfect. I think I used method 1 as method 2 wouldn't work for me.
