Well i am currently using fraps and its getting really annoying sometimes when im making a video im getting a smooth 50FPS in game but after when i watch the video im getting a crappy 2 fps. There are many different issues with fraps people are usually calling it noobie software or slaging it off. Now to be honest i think the FPS, Screenshot part of Fraps is rather good its just the video part (main part) bout fraps that really lets the programe down. So can any of you recomend some sort of video software that works well with videoing gameplay.

    Source Recorder, no contest.
I'll write down the commands needed to record a video in it.

If this 'source recorder' is the thing you use to make demos (.dem files) then it will only let you play them back in steam.

For turning game footage into an actual movie file, fraps is about as good as it gets.

You use the "record x" (x=name of the demo) to record a demo, then you can replay it by pressing shift+f2 and loading the demo. When viewing the demo type "host_framerate xx" (xx=number of fps) and then "startmovie x", and so on. Here is a good tutorial for it.

That's a good tutorial, but I prefer this one.

I'll second that. It's really the only one that shows the direct-to-video method, rather than the image output one. I'd also really recommend using lossless video considering how much detail is lost in a conversion, which that tutorial talks about.

You can always use the video capture that comes with xfire it records in avi format then converts the video to mp4 it records your voice as well. There are lots of options to choose from half screen full screen and various frames per second settings.
