Tell your opinion about realism in games :
It´s important of a game have realistic features in his content or this is only a detail which isn´t so important ?

Best 2007 game ? Your plans for 2008 ?
I can't really see how it is realism, it's just programmed lolz.
But I can see the realism in maps, skins, etc. in a lol way.
Some skins might even be photoshopped so what's the realism in that? Xd
I tend to lean more towards realism in games although unrealistic games are just as fun. But I don't like them too too realistic so that you die in one shot or you break your ankle and limp around for the rest of the game from jumping out a first story window.
Realism in maps and environments are always a treat. That's where I really look for realism because realism tends to look nicer and are more awing and pretty to look at and be surrounded by.
I like the feeling of realistic squad based action and realistic animations and stuff, but realistic health pisses me off. One shot kills are dumb for video games, it makes it that much easier for some ass hole to just spawn rape your entire time if you're playing online and if you're playing single player, the enemies are normally more accurate so you'd die at every turn if you didn't find instant cover.
It's depends on what kind of game you are making with realism. America's Army: SP, the propaganda game by the US Army is going to have realism to make a realistic view of the army and what people can do if they decide that they want to join the army in the future.
Red Orchestra another realism game. The point of this one is to make a realistic view of the Eastern Front in WWII with Nazi Germany against the Soviet Union.
The two above include iron sights which non-realistic people hate.
You also got games that are semi-realistic and semi-action. You got Call of Duty 2 which uses iron sights and crosshairs. Also the most unrealistic part about it is that you can take many hits as you want as long as after you get hit a few times you hide someplace to rest for 3 seconds that attack again.
To be honest I can play both realistic and non-realistic games. I like realism better but it's harder when playing online.
My vote for the best game for 2007 is Call of Duty 4, the first game I think that got it right with both fun gameplay and realism.
My plans for 2008 is to start playing some strategy games. FPS is still fun but I want to play other genres as well.

That is why I like Rainbow Six Vegas so much. It has two difficulties, one is Normal and the other is Realistic. Normal, you can take multiple hits before you die and you can carry much more ammo and grenades. Realistic you can get shot once or twice before you die depending on what the weapon is and what kind of body armor you are wearing. You can't carry as much ammo and you can carry one less grenade of each type, so instead of six grenades you can only carry four.
As for realism, I do prefer it in games because, I think, it gives you a better experience. Tom Clancy games are almost always marked as realistic and that is one of the reasons why they are so well known and popular. Of course, that isn't to say that I don't enjoy non-realistic games. Counter-Strike, for example, is probably my favorite game and it is far from realistic. The thing that I don't like, though, are games that try to be realistic in one sense and are completely off in another. Stalker for example, the bullets follow a realistic bullet path, although sometimes the inaccuracy just gets a little ridiculous, but they don't make bullet damage realistic. I can shoot somebody in the game God knows how many times with a pistol before I kill them but well over 75% of the shots miss because of how they made the firing system realistic. If the bullets miss like they could in real life with that sort of weapon, why don't they do as much damage to the enemy as they would in real life? I can run up to stab somebody in the throat with my knife in that game and they don't die. This kind of thing simply pisses me off and makes me not want to bother with the game.
It all depends on the situation. As Necrosis said, you need a perfect blend of the two.
I really enjoy visual realism, (animations, environments, etc) but don't really mind if gameplay realism is high or not. A game where you have to shoot an enemy fifty times can be just as fun as one where they die if shot in the foot. Everything has to mesh together in order to create a good game and gameplay realism is just a part of that.

I totally agree with you 100% because I did play some flash game some minutes ago at (pawngame.com) everytime someone just had to spawnkill me. I quit playing lolz, I was too mad at that guy who spawnkilled me.
I really hate that realistic health. Well at least they could do is set up some 5 second protection when you spawn that's what I would like to have in games because I dislike spawnkillers really much. :)
Yeah realism is key for me. I hate glitches and model spasms those are the two biggest issues for me.
I like great graphics also.
I look forward to what 2008 has to offer in terms of game technology.
Best Game of 2007 for me:
Crysis

I like realistic games, just like Counter-strike 8]
How the fuck can you consider counter strike as being "realistic"???
It sure beats a game like a Star Wars game in terms of realism.
That's because Star Wars games aren't meant to be realistic, tard. But seriously though, how can CS be considered as realistic? You can do so much shit in that game that's not possible in real life.

It's the way people play it that makes it unrealistic. It all looks good on paper if you think about it. People just do whatever they can to have the advantage.
It depends on how it ties in with the gameplay. Something like Battlefield 2 would be terrible if it was realistic, but something along the lines of Red Orchestra aint that bad.

All that matters is how fun the game is. But that's not to say that sometimes realism can make it funner. But lets face it, how fun is dieing in one shot, not being able to call in air strikes, and not having a large arsenal of deadly, accuracy, weapons of death at your disposal?
Yeah, realism is cool, but, not so much.... The games would be so easy if you could die with an unique shot...
I like TrackMania series, and It´s the lack of realism which made this game a sucess.
I prefer realism over anything, Games that sport Un-Realistic gameplay end up sucking.
STALKER is one of the most realistic games I've ever played, You have to eat, sleep and when you run for awhile your have to stop and wait for your stamina to go back up. When you get shot you have to bandage yourself or your blood will continuously flow out. Also, since the modding community is growing rapidly there is always someone making new gameplay functions, So it's a non-stop adventure in STALKER. :)
