What the title says. I'm sorta 50/50 on this. And Don't Know what to get.
THE GOOD (That I know of)
Mp is pretty fun (Played it at my friend's house).
Very Fun (My older bro has it, but won't let me play it.)
A lot of very good mods, maps, etc.
THE BAD (That I know of)
PunkBuster. (It fails. Period.)
The story while good, I've heard it's short.
Can't use mods in Ranked servers.
Have to use your steam friends name.
The gore sucks.
Seems abit to cartoony. (IMO)
Go for TF2 IMO, I used to like realism (if you can call it that) games, and i was skeptical about TF2, but ever since I got the orange box, i've loved TF2 the most. Apart from ep2 because I follow the whole HL2 story closley.
You will also get MUCH more enjoyment out of a moddable game than a restricted one.
Go with tf2 though, you'll get a whole lot more replay value with it. I'd recommend buying the entire Orange Box though, it costs the same amount as the cod4 and you get more games. The classes are quite even making for some interesting gameplay and strategies.
About your CoD4 'bad' points (as you know, I'm a fierce advocate of CoD4 so I'm kinda biased)...
Yeah, PunkBuster kinda sucks. I won't refute that. So does not being able to use mods... but there are a few unranked servers out there.
The story is short (six hours on regular, I think). But I remember Sean making this point. If it's too short for you, play Veteran... it's significantly longer then. Also, the campaign is really, really good. The storyline is the best ever for the Call of Duty series, and it really feels like a war zone.
Aside from minor inaccuracies (okay, a few major ones) in weapons and vehicles, the game is probably one of the most realistic games I've ever played. Go for it.
CoD4 was an amazing game. The story line was completely worth the $50 I paid for it.
But, if you get the orange box, you get a package full of moddable material, and TF2 is multiplayer, so it never gets too boring.
After I beat CoD4 though, I haven't played it since that day. Soooo get the Orange Box.
COD4 for sure. It's only fun online anyway, so the story is unrelative. PunkBaster fails? No it doesn't. I don't love realism, I hate unrealism tho. But that depends what kinda unrealism it is, physical unrealism and older games sure but a newly made game in cartoon? No.
