Semi-realism Weapon Pack
I was pretty sick of hearing the Counter Strike sounds in L4D, so I set about making a semi-realistic set of sounds for L4D.
I took real recordings of an M16, M14 and 1911 for those weapons respectively, and used distant sounds from those weapons for the distant sounds they make. The M14 I mixed with a sound made by Anders.
The shotguns are based on sounds made by Anders and xLWH.
The pistol reload sounds are based on xLWH's USP sounds.
Thanks for the comments guys :)
I'm revising the soundpack at the moment, using some Spas12 sounds for the shotguns, and a new M14 sound (sadly the reverb cannot be as long as I would like :(
@ Yams, no there aren't any sounds from a game called "Madness", I used some real world gunshots to make the pack (all except for the shotgun sounds, as stated above).
Clarity: Most of the sounds are great. I really like the pistol, rifle, hunting rifle, and the UZI fire sounds. However, the hunting rifle and the pistol seem a little muffled in-game compared to the little sample player thing. I'm not a big fan of the shotgun(s) fire sounds. To me, it doesn't sound like a shotgun at all.
Immersivity: The sounds I used from your pack really added to the L4D experience. The only thing I could really say here is that both shotgun fire sounds don't add in to the experience. But that's just my opinion, most likely there's folks who like it.
Realism: Those real recordings of the M16, M14, and 1911 you used are amazing. In-game, the sounds have just enough beefy-ness in em to sound great. Again, the only thing I can think of to bring this down are the shotgun fire sounds. Overall, a really great pack.
