Excellent set of sounds I've been using for a while now.
The other day I uninstalled these sounds just to remind myself what the Valve defaults sounded like. Good lord, never again. These footstep sounds are streets ahead of the old Valve defaults.
All those extra foley and metallic jingling sounds you mixed together with the footsteps makes it more robust and ultimately more immersive.
Considering that one of the most played sounds in the game besides weapons fire is footstep sounds, this is truly a keeper of a sound set. 10/10
The Combine's footsteps mixed with the BMS footsteps? I love it. Always liked the squashy Combine sounds for charm and the BMS sounds for just being awesome. Put them together and you've got my download, Navaro.
Lots of rattling gear including a big number of snap hooks one can clearly hear in the case are not necessarily a part of tactical outfitting. I think the combat boot sounds of Crysis 2 or F.E.A.R. are more fitting for the character models in CS:S. I also love the footstep sounds from Black Mesa, which you used, so that's a big plus. One has to keep in mind, that the Combine footstep sounds where created with their heavy gear in mind. Though, I have to say that the Combine footstep sounds are not very realistic. I think a walking combine would sound like heavy boots combined with heavy cloth sounds.
Anyway, these sounds are still very good and this is not supposed to be negative criteria, but rather additional information. Sometimes you have to go for style and just use sounds enjoy. Whether a sound is realistic or not dose not matter, as long as it's fun to use, in my opinion.
