Better "Mechless" Tails

Mechless Tails is what I think that will make Tails better!

All I want is for Tails to be better when he has no mech example: have a spin dash! If you want to be able to test mechless Tails. The Character Select PLUS mod should help! BUT don't remove Tails mech I'm saying the Tails that you play as in the Chao Garden...


In order to receive the points bounty, you should fulfil the following requirements.

  1. Give him a Spin Dash
  2. Make it so the game doesn't crash if Tails interacts with things like a grind rail! (Optional)
  3. Make things like light dash OPTIONAL just in case the player wants to have a normal Tails experience
  4. PLEASE make it so others can republish! BUT only if there are some textures that are modded in!

  • I do got a idea so I made a account - Put a tails model over one of the multiplayer characters like amy or metal sonic and make animations to base it off of.

    Considering that Tails not having rolling animations like Speeders Characters (Sonic/Shadow/Amy/Metal Sonic), the only thing that i would love to see to be fixed is the pole swinging animation and the elevator hanging animation, so that could go for a much balanced gameplay in many situations

    Flight could work if you did either.
    1. Find a way to port the SADX system since I think they use the same language(?)
    2. Program it from scratch. Which would have the capability to work better in SA2's engine
    Rather than having a spindash I would port over the rolling functionality but if you wanted the spindash the easy way is to port the code from Sonic, if you want to port SADX's roll functionality it would be more difficult but more rewarding.
    Extending the reach of Tails' tail whip should be much easier than most things, even if it's hard coded.
    Spin jump should be easy(ish)? but I'm not 100% sure.

    I posted this same sort of request a few months ago- asked for Tails to be able to ball-jump, some flight improvements, better range on his tail attack etc and the request was never filled because it would take a fuckload of work. Just wanted to warn you ahead of time

    Theoretically, you could apply Sonic's moveset to Tails sans homing attack, with a recolored jump ball/spindash to start. It might even be possible to bring over a bunch of stuff from SADX since they both use the same file types.
