Downgrading Breaks Game

About a year ago this problem started, and I'm craving some SA1 mods, so it's time we finally solve this.For whatever reason, when converting to the 2004 PC version, the screen stretches a lot, there's a lot of bugged pixels on the title screen, there's no sound other than the intro, and it seems to lag quite a bit. When installing the mod manager onto the game, the game doesn't even boot, simply flashing white for a second before closing itself, regardless on if I mods on or not. I've tried a shit ton of things to try and fix both these issues, but I just haven't been able to.
