Low Settings Break Mods

Question

For some reason, whenever I put my game on performance mode my mods break and textures look all weird like the images shown. Yet when I set my settings to balanced, they go back to normal. My pc simply cant handle that and I've gone through and tweaked every single setting and gone back and there's never a difference. For some reason just having the setting ticked to "balanced" is the only way my mods work now. I'm confused cause earlier today this wasn't an issue and I could have whatever settings I wanted.
