... Convert mesh into "Editable Poly" with rig?

Hi. I'm working in 3Ds Max 2012 and when I'm converting the model's mesh into "Editable Poly" (I need to connect meshes because the head is detached from the body and flying in the air) any rig disappears. What do I need to do to remove this issue?
