What causes a ban? For what i do can i?

Hi, I want to know what causes bans. I really don't want to be banned. But I only add mods to Mario Party Superstars and Mario Kart 8 Deluxe. I don't add cheating mods... but mainly just Tour characters i love Tours rooster, but hate the game. I don't go online with them. Just play them offline (I always play offline, even on my other switch). I don't add emulations the only thing i really add are themes for home menus. I only get on homebrew to change themes. But like i mod MPS and MK8D... just for characters. Could I get banned? I just add character mods, and karts. Edit: I turned off wifi completely so i'm not using wifi at all... does that help not get banned?

But if the mods are client side (which means the mods only appear on your switch) then they should be safe to use online. Mods that are not safe to use online are custom maps, and etc.""Personally I would stay away from using CFW/Mods online in general. If your a person who likes to play online, then I would switch back to stock and play that way. Its better to use the mods offline so you don't run the risk of getting banned. Take it from a person who has been banned twice because I wasn't careful enough. But if your willing to take the risk then go for it"

the track and racecourse mods will definitely get you bannedthe character mods however are more safe to use online however even if lower the ban risk is still theresome mods have higher ban risks for example kart mods that have a parts.bin files that change tire placement for example are said to cause bans
