Are optimizations for Xash3D on New 3ds possible?

A Question for Half-Life

So for those of you who didn't know,it's possible to play Half-Life on a New 3ds (and old 3ds too,but it runs even worse) through the Xash3D engine with homebrew. Honestly it's pretty cool as a novelty, but when it takes 30 minutes to get to the resonance cascade it's probably not worth playing through the whole game like that more than once.

So basically what I'm getting at is could it be possible to somehow potato-fy hl1 even more to get it running a bit smoother,or would that be accomplished by just updating Xash3Ds itself? I don't know if that'll fix the 2 minute loading times at all,but less stuttering would be nice. Maybe simplifying/getting rid of some of the effects and lowering the the resolution would help,I don't know.
I know there's virtually no demand for it (besides my own) and I have no idea what I'm talking about, but I'm curious.

(also I know an obvious answer might be "just play the Switch port!" but 3ds is cool too.)
