I want to import Proto man from that Smash Wii U mod but there are no tutorials for importing models from the Wii U version to the 3DS version. Can anyone help?

  • Simple answer: You have to rig it from scratch.

Complicated answer: Since this is a Wii U mod, you have to ask permission to the Wii U modder if it's okay to port their skin to the 3DS or anywhere outside Wii U. Then, you need to get the model by doing a small part of Smash 4 model importing(importing the model with the 3DS Max script). Once you have it, rotate it to 90 degrees on its X axis, select all the meshes, and right click the box at the side and select Collapse All. Then, delete the bones because 3DS don't use Wii U bones. Next is get the 3DS model by using Ohana 3DS Rebirth and import it to 3DS Max. Then, you edit the 3DS model of Mega Man by removing the helmet and then attach Protoman's helmet. Then you rig it. After rigging the helmet, do the same with the shield. Then you have to assign UV but first you have to make a custom texture of it. So grab Mega Man's texture and edit it on any editor(Paint.NET or Photoshop), and add Protoman's texture to the 3DS Mega Man texture. After assigning the textures, you have to do UV editing. After you done UV edit and everything, you follow the rest of the 3DS model import guide.

Long story short: It's too complicated to port one's mod to the other without removing parts of the original. But if you intent to remove Mega Man's model entirely and lazily port the Wii U mod, then that'll work but it would be super unfitting. I suggest not to teach you this until you know how to model import normally. Trying to port something like that would need practice and understanding on model editing than model importing.

How about try start something basic to import rather than just a mere model edit?
