is it me or the download is slow here?

so. basically when i want to download a mod from gamebanana, the download is VEEEERY slow, but when i download from other service like google disk, the download is fast. so why the download on gamebanana is WAY slower than in other site?

Yes, you are not the only one experiencing this.From what I've known/read from a discussion of a topic similar to this:In a certain game, there ARE people who upload the entire game including the modded part instead of only the actual modded part, which of course, takes up more space. Imagine lots of other people basically downloading or uploading a whole game at the same time. This is why it is recommended for people to upload their mod on another site due to the reason you've stated in the question. Moreover, this certain game currently has +1700 new submissions, which seems to be far above than the new submissions of literally any other game combined. Note that is is only the NEW submissions. There are still 12,000 more submissions of that game awaiting to be approved at this moment, and some of these modders may have uploaded the entire game files (game assets and .exe) as well.Alternatively, you could try downloading/uploading stuff at an off-peak hour.

During peak hours we have up to 10,000 concurrent downloaders - that's 10,000 people hitting a download link at the same time, on 5-100 mbit broadband connections, all vying for our limited bandwidth (about 2 gigabits). If we supplied 100mbit to 10,000 concurrent downloaders (1 terabit/s) it would cost hundreds of thousands of dollars per month. Because we are a free website, we can't afford to provide amazing download speeds like you might have come to expect on STEAM etc, where you are essentially paying for that bandwidth when you buy games there.You have a few options:Just be patient, it's really no that bad. I remember waiting days for large downloads to complete on 56kb modems. You adjust your expectations - do something else - while you wait.Use the alternate download link provided with many mods.Download off peak, where speeds should be much better.GameBanana also has some options:Implement download queues - e.g you wait until your turn, and then you will get faster speeds. But you would probably have to wait just as long overall.We could add a premium tier where members that pay a monthly fee get access to a dedicated download server that a smaller amount of members are downloading from.We could add a torrent system.
