Jumping and crouching in new retro-style shooters, yes or no?
there are multiple genres in retro style shooters itself . . I recommend to follow the setting of the base game on which your current game is inspired from . . jumping is more recommended for a noise and bounce game like Doom and Quake. while for stealth shooters like Wolfenstein or Blake Stone, Crouching is more useful . . but blood had both, so . . it just depends on what exactly you are trying to create . . . if you are making a gameplay mechanic like that in game level design should be such that in certain parts of some levels, those mechanics are to be useful . . crouching is useless in any quake game and jumping is useless in any old Wolfenstein games . . . so
