Might be a silly question you can't really apply to anything, I admit, but its still something interesting to know from a playthrough perspective. This isn't out of the blue, I've actually contemplated submitting this poll for quite a while now. Often wonder myself just out of sheer curiosity. Such a simple solution, yet so many ways to solve it using physics objects...

My first playthough I used the shovel cause it made the most sense to me, but ever since I've become more familiar with how the physics system works in HL2, I haven't been able to deny the humor that comes with blocking fan blades with a shoe.

The shoe is the answer for everything. Need to stop the fan? Use a shoe. Out of ammo? Use the shoe. Bleeding out and about to die? Well, the shoe won't help, but use it anyways. :V
