I played a free version, it seemed to me very boring to walk around the Black Mesa Complex. I did not finish it and removed it from my PC, I did not buy a new version and I do not think that Xen episode will fix the situation.
not really nostalgic since ALOT of features were removed from the mod version which actually were available in hl1 and hl:source and other features were added that were not even in any valve game and that far cry'ish shot gun too,and the biggest mistake is : they changed the hev sounds , and removed the beeping noises when you die , and the tau cannon startup sound is a door sound opening in doom (i thought it was a vaccum cleaner at first xD),they changed the hl2 player sounds with retarded sounds, the new human grunt sounds are retarded too and other retarded speech like (sh*t i gotta pi$$) seriously though bm devs you downgraded your mod really. well at any rate the mod is awesome other than that but i feel like the mod version is better (in my opinion) but i still will play it though. i wish they fix these issues.
For a fan-made game, it's actually pretty loyal to the original (even with some of the changes that were made in comparison to the original level designs). I'd be more than willing to continue playing through it once the Xen levels are released, as that's really the only reason I haven't continued playing through it. I already finished all of the levels before it went live on Steam, so once the Xen levels are finished and released, I'd be more than happy to launch BMS and start off from the beginning once more.
