Should we split the devhub (wips, studios etc) into a separate site?
- A Poll for GameBanana
If you'll split the site into two, how different both sites will be? If everything will be the same (layout, functionality, etc.) then I don't really see the reason to do so instead of using filters.
Of course, site that focuses on less different things should be tidier and should have features that are relevant to content.
If you have anything to share, I'd gladly look at that, because as it is now I cannot decide on anything.
EDIT. Also, I don't really think that results of voting should decide especially when no one knows anything.
As long as you keep them tightly coupled I don't mind, I can see the benefits of doing so. The broader mass who just want the latest mods can navigate the main site easily without stumbling over wips and the dev-interested guys can hang out in the dev section without having to care about everything else. Since the audience is split in devs & non devs that do make sense from a business perspective. The challenge with it though is to keep the community as unified as possible and the dev-hub-site accessible enough from the main site so interested people find it. Without working against the original cause.
Sounds like a huge amount of work and I'm not sure what it would accomplish. DevHub stuff isn't really in the way or anything, I've always liked the way GB let's you have skins and modding resources in the same place, and splitting it would take a big part of GB away.
Splitting the devhub off from GB and making it into a separate site isn't a good idea, if you ask me. Although it would still be affiliated with GB, why should users have to go to another site entirely just to post WiPs, make/chat in a studio, and/or download resources for their projects when having it be a part of GB has been working out just fine? That's just creating more work than necessary, honestly.
Can you be more specific when you say split? ( Need descriptions in polls :> ). In my opinion the Devhub is currently the section with the highest percentage of good content GB has. So if by 'splitting to another site' you mean moving it to another domain and remove it from GB, I dunno. I think the site would have less visitors and would probably end up as a dumpster for shitty cs:go recolors.
Then again, this gave me an idea ...
