Twitch Enforces A Dress Code

A News for GameBanana

No shirt, no shoes, no streaming!

The game streaming website Twitch.tv has added a new rule to the site recently addressing streamers who dress provocatively on their channels. >Dress...appropriately Nerds are sexy, and you're all magnificent, beautiful creatures, but let's try and keep this about the games, shall we? > >Wearing no clothing or sexually suggestive clothing - including lingerie, swimsuits, pasties, and undergarments - is prohibited, as well as any full nude torsos*, which applies to both male and female broadcasters. You may have a great six-pack, but that's better shared on the beach during a 2-on-2 volleyball game blasting "Playing with the Boys." > >* If it's unbearably hot where you are, and you happen to have your shirt off (guys) or a bikini top (grills), then just crop the webcam to your face. Problem solved. > >We sell t-shirts, and those are always acceptable. #Kappa Needless to say Twitch's new rule has been met with a bit of backlash and confusion from the community along with content creators over their new "dress code" and what will be considered as sexually suggestive clothing. As it stands this new rule is specifically for streamers who choose to show an excessive amount of skin and camera angles focused on certain parts of the body. It may or may not apply to those who are dressed in casual/everyday wear as they are streaming. What do you think about Twitch's new rule? Should a website be allowed to enforce a dress code? > **Posted by earth2luke** > > They're going to lose a lot of their business now. Bad move Twitch. Good intentions, but bad move... I don't see how they're going to lose a lot of their business by enforcing a dress code. They might lose SOME channels that solely depended on the streamer showing off their body to gain an audience, but I don't see how being forced into wearing a proper shirt when you're streaming would make them lose a majority of the people that use their services.
    Rev up those G-Diffusers.

    > **Posted by loco.wolfram** > > and what do they expect to find ? tits ? they have a point with the dress code and their ability of NOPEing inappropriate streams, there's millions of underage streamers and viewers, and streaming something like minecraft and looking like you fit in a burlesque movie is just sad ... I think you misunderstood my post. Look a couple of posts further into the thread, I agree with the rule.

I'm actually glad they enforced the rules but the problem is can they actually do anything about what is ongoing? like harassment of users, spammers, DoS/DDoS attacks and so forth. There's a whole list of problems with Twitch today still. It'd be great if Twitch had a anti-flood filter which bans IP adresses that cause malicious damage to for example the IP adresses of the Twitch streamer's CDN. Currently there's no protection at all that's why lots of streams go down at times.
