Valve Servers enabling sv_pure 1 - A News for Team Fortress 2.

Since members can now post news, might as well profit. The latest update of Team Fortress 2 enabled the dreaded sv_pure 1 mode on Valve Servers, disabling most modifications and enforcing vanilla content. Another change are that class limits have also been implemented in Valve Servers. The current parameters of the sv_pure 1 mode are as follows: sound\... trusted_source models\... trusted_source materials\... trusted_source particles\... trusted_source scripts\game_sounds_manifest.txt trusted_source scripts\game_sounds.txt trusted_source scripts\game_sounds_player.txt trusted_source scripts\game_sounds_weapons.txt trusted_source scripts\game_sounds_vo.txt trusted_source scripts\soundmixers.txt trusted_source scripts\game_sounds_vo_handmade.txt trusted_source materials\temp\... any materials\vgui\logos\ui\... any sound\ui\hitsound.wav any Trusted source means that vanilla content is enforced for the directory, while any means any modification will work. Summary: Only hitsounds, HUDs and sprays work in Valve Servers from now on. While not documented in the patch notes, many players quickly discovered the changes, bringing in mixed feedback. ["Valve have always claimed that Valve servers are supposed to provide a completely vanilla experience."]( "") This could be one of the reasons for implementing sv_pure 1. But this is probably also because of the upsurge of mods that could let users cheat, especially texture and particle mods. Time will tell if Valve will keep those changes or revert them. It is a huge hit for the modding community. EDIT: Another change seem to be the enforcement of the censored german version for german players. No comment.
