Stardust - A Mod for Team Fortress 2.

Stardust Crusaders deathrun map.

Stardust!

After a year and a half of hard work, I present to you a "JoJo's Bizarre Adventure" themed Deathrun map. This map has areas based off of what was shown in the anime, while keeping the map feeling like TF2, so as to not put off all of those anti-weeaboos.

Stardust is a deathrun map that follows the story of "The Stardust Crusaders" from the show "JoJo's Bizarre Adventures". Even if you haven't watched the show, this map can still be played and be enjoyable. What is particularly special about this map is how minigames are presented to the runners. Instead of getting a choice of minigames at the end, runners instead have to play the minigames throughout the deathrun to progress through the map (with the games' mechanics altered so that death still has some traps to use in them too).

Moving on from the minigames, all the traps in the map are designed to be fair and skill based, rather than luck based traps which require no effort from either the activator or the runners. All of the traps are also clearly laid out without the use of any obnoxious hazard markings.

For future updates to this map, there might be some, there might not be. If there are any bugs I'll probably fix them and release it here, but don't expect any massive changes to the map.

And to finish this off, there are other anime references in the map, including a colossal secret, for particularly skilled deathrun players, once they have beaten the whole map at least once.

Have fun!

Didn't expect to see an update to 2/3 year old map.

Look where we are now I guess.

  • Interesting map, but needs some fixes:

    1. Need 2-3 more traps before the spinner minigame. And maybe 1 extra trap in the desert. It's also way too easy to rush past the traps in the street as scout/demo/spy, and just activate the spinner minigame. If hale lets even one player go, both street traps are basically worthless since everyone will be teleported to spinner in 10 seconds anyway. Also, maybe add 1 extra trap either in the big white building, or in the garden right before entering the big white building

    2. The window strafe jump needs to be a bit easier, widen the ledge a tiny bit at least. Way too many people die just to this one part. Alot of people also just stall right before the window part and don't bother trying. This window part slows down the map in a weird way. I think having the window strafe part a bit easier, and having extra traps to balance it out, is a good idea to improve flow of map. You can even make the ledge a bit wider, but have 3-4 strafes on the window. So it's more forgiving in regards to jumping off the ledge at the right time and right angle, but still has a tiny bit of extra challenge since you have to do it 3-4 times. So the player has more control over passing this part overall and less pinpoint accuracy is required.

    3. Make the Evangelion secret unlock more often. Supposedly, the chance of unlocking it are 1 in 8, but that's only IF you win. I find that alot of time players will either never win this map, or will only win 2-3 rounds in, out of like 4-5 rounds. So the real odds of unlocking it, and your average player having the chance to play it,  are something like 1 in 40, since you have to factor in human average win rate.  This is different from dr_playstation, where the bud card has a flat unlock chance of 1/8, since it doesn't matter if you win or lose. Suggested Fixes: 1) remove the win/lose condition and have a flat unlock chance. 2) Keep the win/lose condition, but dramatically increases the chances of unlocking to 33%. That way, even if humans finally win in the second to last round, they still have a reasonable chance of unlocking the evangelion secret on the last round.

    Good map overall.
