ctf_hoops_beta - A Mod for Team Fortress 2

This is a single flag CTF map wrapped around a basketball and paintball theme, where the intel spawns in the middle of the map and teams work together to capture it through the opposing team's hoop.

This is a single flag CTF map wrapped around a basketball and paintball theme, where the intel spawns in the middle of the map and teams work together to capture it through the opposing team's hoop. It is intended to promote a sports-like method of teamwork (I'm hoping it will be useful for helping teams/clans get used to working together and coordinating their efforts). The max number of players for the map is still yet to be determined. To date the most we've had in a server was 10. The gameplay is very fast with a low amount of players and a little slower with more players and a good defense, we are very interested in how it plays with a large amount of players who are working together as teams. I submitted it as 26 players because we are interested in how it plays with large teams. I'm not saying 26 players is necessary, I just don't know how many players yet and am hoping the community can help decide if many people like the map.     Pros: Very Detailed and unique play style. All classes are balanced (no "dominate" class like in B-ball). Cons: A bit to easy to take the intel and run to your base with it. Spy could be a hard class to play because there are few alternate paths to choose from. Improvements: none that I can think of.

    Pros: puts CTF back on the radar. excilent game play idea. i like it so much infact, i put it on our 30 slot server and got a very good responce Cons: nothing much, only thing i would point out is that you can shoot + kill defore round start. Improvements: make my counters bigger :) and prahaps a few more obsticals, forinstance a bridge along the side, just to give the map a bit more height. Notes: not sure wether it needs changing or not, but to cap and score a hoop, there is the option of running into the enemy base and capping (how it should be done) or tunr right around and run into a jet tunnel and you fly righ to the cap, to which there is next to no defence. im not sure wether this should be left in or not but just somthing to think about. and i would like to send my condolences to Michael "bubba" Myatt. although i dont know the guy, i cant amagine how it would feel to lose one of my clan or community members, and that shrine is a great testemony. nice one guys.

    Pros: This is amazing, my first thought when I saw this was Paintball Arena, it looks like some kind of sport which is awesome. This is like an really hyper advanced version of BBall xD, but the best thing is, its not just for Soldiers and Demos! Everyone can play, protect themself and have strategies. Cons: Cant really say, more waypoints? 1 or 2 more floors so you get more variety in the height rather than playing on flat ground? Improvements: See cons, Notes: Freakin' awesome.

    Thanks for the feedback everyone =) For those that haven't noticed yet, the top of the backboard is in play for 3 classes (or more in certain ultra-rare circumstances during normal play). I'll let you all figure out which and how ;) . The 3 classes hinted at can get up there on their own with varying difficulty, the others would need enemy assistance. Something I have noticed is there are a considerable amount of people trying to snipe from the spawn exits, This will be taken care of in the next release. One more thing that I am hearing repeatedly and I have to agree with, although it was not planned to, is that it looks very similar to American Gladiators. -------------------------------------------------- 03-08-09 : Revised installation instructions and repackaged the map to include a custom welcome screen and map description. Nothing changed in the map itself all previously downloaded packages will still work with any server running the map. It was strictly a client side addition, the servers won't mind. Sorry, I was a little late on sorting out the details for this element. o_O -------------------------------------------------- 03-11-09 : Added this line to the "Author's notes" : "It is intended to promote a sports-like method of teamwork (I'm hoping it will be useful for helping teams/clans get used to working together and coordinating their efforts)" This was added to clarify the focus of this map towards teamwork due to multiple questions revolving around this. We developed this map with teamwork considered to be a high priority factor.

Sorry about your friend. --------------------------------- Since i can't double post i have to edit this. --------------------------------- First off let me say this map is very fun to play. And to be honest, i couldn't really find anything wrong with it. Pros: Basically everything you asked for a rating i couldn't find anything wrong with, so you got a good rating. This map looks very pleasing, has a nice amount of detail and ambiance. It is also very fun to play, although i only played with a small group, and most of the time it was 1v1. Cons: It's hard to find any cons with this map. I usually try looking for bugs but i couldn't find any, and it looks like a very good map, so i can't complain about that either. The only thing i thought was a bit odd is that once you leave spawn, you can't enter again. But then i thought its good otherwise you would have snipers shooting out of spawn. No cons here. Improvements: I have no clue. And this is a beta! lol Conclusion: This is a very fun map, i suggest everyone to download it. Great work on the map.
