ctf_biomass_rc1 - A Mod for Team Fortress 2

RC1 Changelog: -Added another spawn due to being too easy to spawn camp before. -Fixed the fade distance to a couple of props. -Fixed some nodraw textures. -Fixed some issues with clipping. -Fixed an issue with the 3d sky. -Improved fps.

    This has to be one of the best maps ever. It's beautiful, well paced, balanced (could use some more ammo packs around the spawns though, be it small ones) and just good. However, I'm a nitpick. I see small things. These things are: Around the flags, the dams are skybox models. The water transition is a pain in the bottom to line up properly, so I'll forgive you for that. The ground of the playable map (under water that is) however is visible when jumping near the 2 windows near the flags. Also, a bit of the map extends into the skybox area, making the water in the skybox clip trough it weirdly and thus creating a weird visual effect. Under the flags, there is a deep pit with water. On one side of the walls (BLU: nearest to the dam, RED: nearest to the main entrance) the brushes don't align properly (be it a 1 HU difference). The skybox around mid has some small misalignments on BLU's side, near the skybox tunnel entrance to the left when exiting BLU's base. When rocketjumping on the side of the two waterfalls near mid, it is possible to go high enough to see behind the map and under the 3d skybox. The holes near both flags are not perfect circles (remember the nitpick part? That's my OCD kicking in). Also, I always have mixed feelings about big black holes in maps. I think it makes the map less realistic. If possible, put a giant turbine fan on the bottom of the pits (let it spin if possible) so that people see what they're up to when falling to their imminent death. Both the small respawn rooms (the round ones with the small door) have weird lighting issues. One brush is darker than the other, while it is brighter than the brush next to it. Also, the shadow of the resupply locker in BLU's round spawn is not based on internal lighting, but rather on the light coming from outside. The two pillars viewed when watching from BLU's intel to the hole of imminent death have some lighting issues going on on the top. The same goes for RED's side, but it's less noticeable. There is an invisible brush acting as a table under both flags, making you float above the floor as if you're standing on the flags themselves. It's not possible to go trough the intel, as the invisible table is blocking you. Don't know as if this qualifies as not correct, but both of the two towers above the flags have 2 missing windows above the 2nd entrance. Can I make a suggestion? Let players be able to go on top of the roof (only the jumping classes) above the hallways to the flag to spam crockets and 'nades from above. If possible, add some fitting sound around the outside area near the intel. I find it a bit too quiet there (maybe the sound of a spinning turbine in the hole would do?) When viewed from mid towards the base (for both RED and BLU) there are four windows on the sniper ledge. The windows on the far right of both bases have some window frames that are missing textures or have lighting problems. There are some texture misalignments going on in the water on both sides of the map, near the flags' bases when viewed from the window on the left (on the left as in entering the intel room and then on the left). There is a lighting thing going on in BLU's pit of imminent death. One brush is very bright while the one next to it is dark. So, there ya go. These are the things I found. Quite a big list, but as stated before, I'm a nitpick with OCD, so small things grab my attention more than it would do to other people. If these things can be fixed, I'll be so happy and play it forever (probably). Oh, and also, it's a great map nevertheless. It should be added to the official rotation and you should work for Valve.

    I have to say, this looks fantastic. I tested it and it isn't a confusing map and everything seems to just fit. I approve.

    Design: The whole design of the map is amazing, it really does feel like a semi real place that has an electrical generator with a dam (albeit four dams is kind of stretching it.) Gameplay: Nice and balanced, and the varying environments that is played in is awesome. Looks: Amazing detail, and essentially everything has a smooth look to it, and every texture is placed just right.

    I gotta say, I don't know who you are. But I'm sure you're name (if not already) will get around. Anyway. I really like the look of the map. Looks like hydro got hit by a tsunami! I really like the area in pic 5. I like how it is an area that you need to get across, but is open to fire from , well, everywhere. Also like the 3D skybox. ;) Will edit later after more future playtests.
