SA2 CEL Project alpha 0.5 - A Mod for Sonic Adventure 2

CEL shading for action stages and both Biolizard fights.



Cel shaded goodness for SA2, changes lighting of player characters, enemies, non-stage-specific objects/items in all action stages and both Biolizard Fights. Planned to be tweaked/improved and extended (especially to other boss battles) down the line. Works with MOST if not all other character model and texture mods as changes different files. Okay technically it's closer to 'flat' shading than Cel right now, also dark areas in many stages give player characters a green-ish glow,  this is W.i.P incarnate. 

If you have Iron Gate Lighting Fix installed ( https://gamebanana.com/gamefiles/8867 ) make sure to deactivate it to use this mod in Iron Gate (it's perhaps the only mod I know of that edits the same file types).



As you can see big gains can be had with other mods, this is the HD Modern Models Pack by -[DEXTERITY]- avatar Marx Team Flag which can be found here ( https://gamebanana.com/skins/172923 ).

There will be errors especially some stages in shade, I had to redo files with artificial chaos enemies in and might have missed the odd similar bug. While this project is in alpha state I do intend to keep updating and any major alterations (for example texture changes which would impact other mods) will be keep as optional additional downloads.

Finally obvious best-fit for this mod would be Jet Set Sonic ( https://gamebanana.com/skins/173798 ) by Lady Luna - download it in addition to this mod for no regrets. 

NOTE: As this is a fairly large W.i.P project in Alpha state a version history is included in the download as a text file, more for my end to keep track of updates. Additionally error reporting is appreciated, can do so here on this GameBanana page. I expect updates to be fairly constant and at decent pace but some smaller fixes/updates might not release immediately.  Yeah about that, working on P-02 (-DEXTERITY-'s '06 into SA2 conversion) and figuring out how to edit SA2's code is taking up all my modding time so updates to this will likely be delayed/lax. Along with P-02 *might* have something else interesting in the works more to do with code and level editing.

    I do hope you can get the lighting right eventually. The dream of Sonic Adventure 2 with a Jet Set Radio Future aesthetic 美的 is too much for my brain to handle.

    I know this mod is on wip but I guess I have the freedom to comment that that doesn't strike me as cel shading at all, it seems like you just completely removed all shading and lighting effects from the models, doesn't look better tbh.

    I really like cel shading, and I can see, you are going sonic shuffle esque. But, I don't think it will go well with a game like SA2, SA1/DX will be just fine. Why? I'm not hating on this mod, but SA2 was supposed to be realistic, while cell shading was supposed to be cartoony, these things will really clash in my opinion, but this mod is still in Alpha, and can pack surprises, when the final release comes out.

    If we were to flatten or simplify character textures and then find out how to give them two-tone shading for proper cel-shading with this, then hey, Sonic Shuffle style.
