Fixed ears in any headgear - A Mod for The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild (WiiU).

Fixed ears in any headgear (WiiU & Switch)

DESCRIPTION

This little mod will lock the ear position in all the headgear that is allowing it, no matter what player replacement or mod are you using (Linkle, Zelda, default Link...).

Install it in case you are getting an endless bouncing ear movement in some headgear after installing mods like the Girly Animation Pack:

SETUP

Install the mod using the latest BCML version and make sure it's at the absolute top (the highest priority in the mod load order). During the install, you will be asked to apply the lock in all the listed headgear, or just in the ones you want to fix (the headgear not listed there, is safe and cannot be affected by the bouncing ear issue):

WARNINGS

  • This mod does not cover new armors added to the game (but usually, all the new armors have this vector already at zero, so probably you will not get the bouncing ear issue on them).
  • Also, some headgear is not upgradeable in the game: If you are using mods to allow it, this mod may not work correctly or it will only fix the bouncing ears issue in the not upgraded headgear.
  • In general: if you have a mod containing sbactorkpack files not listed in the Technical Stuff section below, and these files have the EarRotate vector with a non zero value, then you might get the bouncing ear issue for the headgear on that specific mod.

THANKS!

A big thanks to bob920717 for discovering the solution, kindly sharing it with me, and also providing the Switch version of the mod! Also thanks to OrionKaelin who noticed the issue and helped trying several solutions, and Liberator_Eliterez11 and other users who shared the issue in the comments of the Girly Animation Pack mod page and here :)

TECHNICAL STUFF

Installed with BCML, the mod will change only the value for the EarRotate vector to (0, 0, 0) in all the  existing Armor_nnn_Head....sbactorpack files in the game with this vector having a different value than zero (67 files out of 186 in total, covering all the headgear present in the game + updates + DLC):

This is a bit late, but this fix can be done in a different way as well. If you re-rig the ear vertices to the head bone, then the ear physics don't apply to them at all. This has the same result as the EarRotate edits, but changes one file and so will be compatible with any armor (including new armor actors).

Though it does carry the unfortunate side effect of not being compatible with any other mod that changes Link.sbfres, that should be fine since no other mod they'll be using edits that (except Zelda's Ballad, which the edit will be fixing)

Update: Issues fixed in following update.
Unfortunately on initial testing it still doesn't seem to work... at least with my huge full mod list (seen here).
Will do further testing later with fewer possible conflicts.

You are going to want to make a version specifically for Zelda Ballad, since nearly all of the armors use special .sbactorpack files with physics that are different than the base game files that Link and Linkle use. Keep in mind also that you will most likely want to make a patch for each of the Zelda's Ballad addons like the Helm Pack, Amiibo Outfits, etc. Otherwise some of the hair physics might be off.

Might want to make a note that this won't be compatible with mods that alter .sbactorpack files like armor overhauls, etc.

Edit: If I am not mistaken, locking the ear rotate vectors at 0 will also cause the ears to stick out slightly in certain hoods like the dark armor and hylian hood. But its better than watching them flap in the wind lol.
