M4 + M203 for Black Mesa 1.5
- A Mod for Black Mesa.
This is more or less a Frankenstein's monster of various Black Mesa M4 mods, using this mod's viewmodel and sounds, this mod's firing sounds, and my previous mod's worldmodel and sounds, packaged together to be somewhat stable.
Features:
Viewmodel + worldmodel replacements
Proper worldmodel physics
Animation replacements
Weapon sound replacements
Proper HECU handling/firing
Additional notes:
The demonstration video showcases the original version. The new version reloads faster when the magazine isn't empty, similar to the vanilla MP5.
The video and images use the muzzle flashes from Particle Enhancement Project, so be sure to install that if you want the same results.
The original MP5's stats have been preserved as much as possible, as I wanted to ensure the balance of the original game was not heavily tampered with. The biggest gameplay changes in this mod are increased reload times, in order to match the reload animations.
As it stands this mod does not have any pickup or inspect animations, but most other animation are present.
The viewmodel and worldmodel aren't 100% exact matches, however the alternative was the worldmodel having broken physics, so I'd say it is a fair compromise.
I think that overall it's pretty good. However, there are a few critiques I have:
1) The lack of a first-pickup animation is very jarring. This would be one of the first things I would try to add for consistency with the other guns.
2) The animation for hitting the forward-assist every time is very unnecessary, in my opinion. It logically doesn't really make sense and it gets honestly annoying very quickly.
3) The inconsistency between the viewmodel and the worldmodel should be fixed. It comes across as a bit lazy.
Sadly, it has Thanez hands for default. And it doesn't reload faster when you have rounds left, instead you load a new mag and charge the handle. In the MP5 when you didn't empty the entire mag, the reload was faster.
Looks great man! will check it out tomorrow. Are the thanez up to date with most up to date version of thanez pack? Since I remember older versions have a darker color scheme. AND will i have to do a ranking so it overrides thanez mp5?
