gg_egypt - A Mod for Counter-Strike: Source.

*********************************** ** ** GG_EGYPT ** *********************************** gg_egypt by Jeremy "Air" Hurley ** Supports 40 players (20 spawns for each team) ** HE grenade on each roof ** Bombsite under the huge pyramid in the middle ** 5 pyramids total ** Great for low gravity too ** Lots of fun !!! This map was released on 5/27. I made this map in about 4 days off and on. I put around 30 hours of work into this map. Three of the five pyramids you can climb all over on. The other two you can actually go INSIDE and UP for a great sniping spot! This map was a lot of fun to make but at the same time very tedious. As usual, I began to obsess about finishing it and so I couldn't stop working on it. I didn't get to make the ground have displacements. I didn't really want it to, though. I also didn't add scenery to the 3d skybox but why bother? This map is already great and already a large enough file size. Playtests indicate the map is a blast. Framerates are very good, too.     CrAzD --- DOH! You're right about the spawns. The -major- problem with fixing those 4 points is I have 2 options: A) Keep the same mapname. B) Change the mapname. The problem with option A is that a ton of people, believe it or not, have no idea they need to delete their map, or maybe how to do that, when a server tells them they have the wrong version. I know this because I experienced it on my own server with maps before. So this means a lot of people who already have the map will never get to play it again (except on servers running the wrong version). Option B is a good option. I mean it works. But adding additional characters onto my map name can be confusing, misleading, etc. I have also experienced this issue. Of course, I could just not fix the errors with those spawnpoints. That still leaves 16v16 play in tact... But this map is so large than 20v20 isn't an overkill. On the other hand, though, GunGame servers with more than 32 slots (and actually use more than 32) are rare. The skybox.... Well as I said, I left that out intentionally. The detailed environments anyway. This was for many reasons... For one reason, it adds to the filesize. For two, it lowers fps. A third reason is I'm a novice at making them so it would have taken more devtime and I just wanted to get the map out. A fourth reason is that it's not a major issue, really. So all in all, I decided not to include one. I appreciate you adding it to rotation. I try to make the most fun maps possible. The one thing I don't sacrifice on when making maps is playability, fun, layouts, and good texture work. If you want me to make you a fixed spawnpoint version (or anyone else) let me know. It won't take me but 10 seconds to do that and upload it to a domain of mine. Let me know if you'd prefer it be the same map name, or a different one (and choose what you want me to call it -- of course you can rename it though with ease). Thanks! P.S. I added the rugs last-minute. That's how I missed the spawn issue with them! I was so eager to get the map out and be done working on it! :P

    Pros: Good Fps, Really Nice Gameplay Cons: There are some broken Spawns Its where the Spawn Points are touching the Rugs. so just move the ones touching them up a little bit.. Remember (sv_cheats 1 ++ map_showspawnpoints) is your friend HERE is the Cords according to my Console, but with (cl_showpos 1) their a lil off.     DevoiD -- Yeah one of the things that I focus on getting right in my maps is textures. But a 7/10 rating? Wow, man, I don't agree with that rating. I know it's not a perfect map but it's definitely a solid 8/10 if not 9 imo.

    Pros: Love the texturing, everything fits really well, nice job Cons: map looks like its floating in space Improvements: 3D skybox Notes: very nice, pro job, but without the 3D skybox it looks kinda silly

    Cuda1 --- Thanks for your support. I'm glad you're a fan of my maps. Although 30 hours in 5 days doesn't seem like long to make a map, it is when you work full time like I do. Because of this, I doubt I will be making another one anytime soon. I love to make them but it's also very tedious and sometimes stressful work. I have some crazy ideas for some maps still but hardly any free time to work on them. So please don't expect anything new anytime soon. Maybe in a month or two. Thanks again! :)
