UABE (For exporting and importing textures, also, short for Unity Assets Bundle Extractor) Paint.net (mainly use it for sprite editing) Gimp (i sometime use it to dither sprites) UnityEX (for editing sounds) Texigen (Pre-made textures) DnSpy (code editing!)
Maybe you could experiment modding the classic game since it would be interesting how the creator of the game we mod would make a mod.
