Hey, I don't make maps anymore because of small amount of time I have and I work as graphics designer. However I'm thinking to do some maps but first I need to learn 3d modeling for own purposes :)
Yo, do you mean the one from that wintery valley map? Ughh not sure, I think for VHE you must use a grid hack because otherwise it does not let you build outside of the 8192 grid. Get it here: https://gamebanana.com/tuts/11737 There's also a version of Hammer somewhere out there which includes modified hammer.exe file with the grid size already increased.
My suggestion, still, is to try Jackhammer. There will not be any adjustment or re-learning period for you, because it works and looks almost exactly the same as VHE!
You can change the grid size in program, up to something ridiculous like several hundred thousand. I once tried to create a small sized Solar System map because I could :)
