This map pack is very hard, hence the name, so i would recommend at least finishing
Core C-Side/Farewell before playing this.

This map pack does not expect you to know anything that the game doesn't teach you, until The Summit.

    I've recently noticed that a lot of people have been heavily criticizing 9D for having design decisions that could have been redeemed as questionable. While I could agree with it, I think some people are needlessly trying to make it the worst map possible. Trust me, I've played far worse maps, and I can't say I disagree with some of the points, but there's still quite a lot of stuff that's cool in the map, so let's start with the positives. Spoiler alert.

    I like the first four checkpoints of the map a lot. They feel very much like Chapter 9 with a lot of twists on already existing mechanics. Checkpoint 4 is perhaps one of my favorites, being a nice and chill tutorial room before the actual hell starts. Even though CP5 and 6 are massive difficulty spikes, they still have some interesting uses of vanilla features here and there. The darkness effect in CP9 was pretty interesting, and the puzzle room in CP10 is actually very unique. I also really appreciate the end of CP7, which is a tutorial for ultra dashes, something I didn't see in other maps before. The puzzle room in CP22 I believe was also kinda neat, as well as the next one with all the quirky mechanics you have to use in order to progress. There's definitely a lot of creativity which gives the map a lot of potential, however there's also some things that definitely bring it down a lot.

    Starting from the first one, difficulty is quite unbalanced. CP5 and 6 are a massive difficulty spike from the first 4 checkpoints, and while CP8 is relatively chill for most of the time, there's one room which is literally hell to play and is arguably one of the hardest rooms in the first half. There's also a weird lack of watchtowers, especially in long sections that actually require the player to analize the room in order to make good progress. There's also an abundance of trolls in this map. Don't get me wrong, I like a good troll here and there, but the further you go, the more trolly the gameplay is, which can get very obnoxious for some players. It's fine to be trolled occasionally, like people do in Kaizo levels in Mario, but there's a line between fun and irritating. 9D definitely crosses it in a few times, where a troll can remove your checkpoint from a current room, which I don't know if it's an oversight, or if it's done on purpose. Whatever it is, it's very discouraging for a lot of players, especially during a tough section. Considering the map is extremely long, it'd be nice to have some sort of encouragement, so a player can persevere, instead of constant trolling after a certain point. There's also a few rooms here and there that either feel rushed or not playtested well enough, ending up being either very awkward or just quite lackluster in gameplay.

    Anyway, personally for me 9D is a very mixed bag. It has high highs, but it also has its lows. It definitely shows a huge amount of potential, but I think that it might have been released too early, ending up not being playtested well enough. I'd also honestly suggest getting rid of the trolls that cause you to lose progress, no player is gonna enjoy it, and a lot of them might just stop playing the map after this. I know it was just released not a long time ago, and every D-Side eventually got revisions that improved their gameplay, so I really hope 9D is gonna have one sometime in the future. It's a weird mix of amazing rooms with some questionable parts that bring it down. It's not a bad mod by any means, but I think it definitely needs more time for tweaks and improvement, considering how insanely long it is.

    Do not play 9D. Seriously. It got overhyped, while in all reality it's filled with bad design decisions all across the map. Only the first few checkpoints are good, then it becomes consistently bad all the way to the end, with the most bs stuff ever seen in any custom map ever made in the last room. Respawn triggers sending you back 3 minutes of gameplay? Sure, they're there. Hidden checkpoints? yes. Watchtower blockers to prevent viewing last bits of rooms? yes. Heh, forget about watchtowers. You NEED DjMapHelper's "spawn watchtower anywhere" to play this map. How can you go from 7D which is actually great, to this? This is what quantity > quality does, folks!

    Phenomenal. Every room sparkles with creativity and cuteness, while far exceeding 7d difficulty. And there are a lot of these huge rooms, including 75 flags in total.

    My only regret is that due to my incompetence and lack of free time, it may take months for me to finish this hellish map and to fully experience the painful journey of a girl, deprived of love, locked in a mountain.

    Other things I want to say:
    I'll never learn to trust, instead I'll probably commit Extended Variants.
    Infinity is literally endless continuous infinity.
    I hope a certain gamer will be incentivised to finally go away.

    Is 9d supposed to look burnt? keep in mind i havn't gotten any further than the remembered section but, it looks like every block was taken out of a fire. i ended up deciding to play it with extended variants with room bloom and lighting set to 90% just because it was painfull to look at.

    Nice maps though, looking forward to playing some of the remakes and trying to finish 9d.

    I knew this moment would come sooner or later but the emotion is now too much. Time to dust off the old joystick with which I played these hellish maps, thanks for taking out the darkest and most terrible of this great game and for your dedication to make this hell possible. I hope this is not goodbye but a "See you soon". Next time create levels for children. You're crazy (I had to say it with love and hate)

    While I'm was never going to be able to complete the monster that is the new chapter (over 500 rooms?!?), I did the cheaty and tried it out anyways. Gotta say, was still very enjoyable even if I did take out the challenge for myself, the bits of story really strung it all together and all the custom extras that were added are pretty phenomenal?!? Certainly didn't expect any of that. Is this even a D-side or a completly new chapter loosely based on farewell? Who knows at this point...

    All I'm gonna say is, holy fudge, good luck to everyone who is actually gonna play through this, you'll get your non-paid moneys worth for sure.

    oh and the replacements for the other chapters seem like a step up from the old ones,  at least from what I've seen so far, so... Job well done friend!

    This pack is really difficult and had me on the edge of my seat everytime I came close to finishing a screen.
    First chapter took 1,000 deaths, look forward for many, MANY more.
