lately i have seeing modpacks popping up where the creator just add many mods dont even put effort to ask the creators of XXXXX mod to be in the pack and release it to gamebanana like its theirs own mods for me personal i dont mind my mods in a pack they just have to ask first and alot of modders is like that but if they ask After they released the pack its basically too late
my idea to fix this problem: no more sm4sh modpacks on gamebanana unless you got a Admin/mod & all the creator´s of XXXX mod permission & if 1 of the mod´s creator say no you have to delete that mod before you upload it and also need proof you got permission for all mods & if a creator find out a mod is in yours pack without permission if he flags the pack that means 4x flagging but again i dont know if a system like this is possible
since modpacks right now is mainly just Skins / other people´s work & this getting out of hand 2x modpacks in a week i saw where the creator did not ask all creators before releasing the pack to the public(if asking any at all before release the pack)
modpacks like turbo,ch4os,tr4sh,rebuffed,phoenix & etc. is alot more effort where they change up the game & etc. but still count: if those packs using a skin & etc. from a person they need permission
but modpacks like "skins/UI only" is just download mods>sm4sh explorer>upload the sm4sh explorer packed files to gamebanana its those modpacks i mainly talk about
all of this: ask the mod creator before putting his/her´s mod in to your pack also means for Outside gamebanana modpacks(like Nairo´s modpack) but them we cant do much about
I will add some new inputs to help with this. One will be "Allow in packs" toggle, which will indicate to others if you will permit your skin/map/etc used in a pack. The other is a derivative submissions list for pack submitters, which will automatically grab credits from other submissions so you don't need to enter all the credits in the pack manually.
First of all, sorry for not asking to have your skins in my modpack. Truth be told i've asked quite a lot of people on the website for the first version of the modpack but I forgot to ask people for the second one. This is because a lot of people were requesting that I upload it asap, and I thought the credits section would be enough. Not to mention that out of all the people ask, quite a few of them told me that "you don't need to ask" so from there I assumed it would be ok to take there word for it.
Also I wouldn't consider my modpack to be entirely "low effort" because it's something that I've been working a while now, keeping it organized with the credits page, organizing the skins and stage mods, etc. I've mostly been working in the sound area where most of the music in the modpack is looped and added by me.
Finally, I do have a question regarding your proposed rule. Currently the modpack has a lot of modders in it. A majority of them may have made just 1 skin or voice mod that I used, which may not have even been completed. That being said, should mod pack makers still be required to have to ask those modders for use in the modpack?
Once again i'm sorry for this, and I love your work
