Penumbra: Overture, mixes a blend of First-Person-Shooter, Adventure, Survival Horror and Stealth games to immerse the player into an environment like never seen before. Aside from traditional FPS type games, Penumbra makes the player defeat enemies and solve puzzles using non-traditional ways, never before seen.
The game combines different aspects of Adventure and FPS games, and includes game items, an inventory system, the ability to "look" "observe" "grab" "climb" etc.
The lighting is completely dynamic and is constantly changing with the swaying of a lamp casting shadow among whatever it hits. Also, Penumbra brings a whole new physics engine into play, which gives the player the ability not to just press "E" to open a door, etc, but actually a player must "Grab" a door / handle / lever, etc, and actually Push, Pull, Twist, Turn, Yank the mouse to interact with the environment. So you must actually open the doors yourself which adds an insane amount of realism and feel to the game.
