Metal Fish

A Blog Post for Core Decay

A closer look at how artwork is presented.

I know it's been a while since the last Core Decay update and I tought it was about time to present a new piece of art for Core Decay. I've been woking on an abstract fish model. Currently the UV's are unwrapped and the model is ready for texturing. As promised in the previous art article, I'll go over the way art is displayed in Core Decay.

Since the game is set in a dystopian cyberpunk world, it seemed logical to me to extend this principle to the presentation of art. To achieve this, I thought it would be interesting to let the artwork float by means of carefully programmed magnets. This is not only interesting for the models themselves, as they require less detail, but also makes sense in the futuristic world.

This principle of magnets will have some interesting gameplay mechanics as well but we'll go over that in a future update.
