Space; the world outside ours. Ever wanted to know what a map looks like when it is crossed between space and a beehive? The answer is simple; you get a very roomy beehive. If you wanted to get skeptical then you would get fy_manfly_hexamillion as the result. This is my intake of this new abomination of a map.
One of the jumping platforms.
Very ambient. It is a little area floating around space itself. The author did a great job of making this map have a zero gravity feel (in certain spots) and the skybox is really nice touch.
The map is fairly balanced. Pretty much two paths for each side to take to reach the middle. Also the distance between the two sides are fair. The map is pretty open all around, so make sure you shoot before your enemy does.
A very unique design at that. Hexagons pretty much make up the map and is well displayed with white lines around the edges to produce a light source. Nothing is randomly placed either. This was well thought out before the author hit the submit button. The space skybox and the 3D skybox really bring out this map and is pretty sweet to take note on.
An inside look of the map.
Detail is a high note in this map. There are some jumping platforms around the map that have this bright aura around the sides with a red arrow pointing up. A dust_node is placed in the center of these platforms to give it a dusty feel to it. These platforms are even placed in some areas that you are not meant to get to. That is one aspect of detail that a lot of mappers do not understand. If there are spots in your map that you can not get to then it only adds to the detail.
This map is chuck-full of fun. The hexagons provide several stairways and there are a few jumping platforms with the map. There are a lot of spots to shoot down your enemy and the theme of this map makes it all the more thrilling.
A birds eye view of the whole map.
There is no sound clips in this map. I do feel that there could be some cool ones with the platforms like when you go up then a sound could be played. Otherwise there really is no room for any extra sound clips. There should be something though...
I like the lighting personally. There are shadows where there ought to be and the bright lights give this more of a sci-fi feel to it. Nothing extra needs to be done to this. It is perfect the way it is.
Overall I really like this map. It is not perfect, but damn close to it. This is a very talented mapper and has proven himself as one. I look forward to future releases from this guy. This map gets a 9.9/10 from me. Great work!
