"Forra" - Hostage Rescue (BETA Version) [On Hold]

Notice: The map is on-hold indefinitely. It is sad to announce. The reason is, I am trying to kick-start my career in singing/music, and I am just getting into a good flow with it. Mapping is and always be just a hobby. But singing. That is what I live for. It is my dream.

If I get a chance, I will finish FORRA, but no idea when that will be. Could be in a month, could be a few months. I am sorry to those of you who were excited about its release, as well as my wonderful friends who have helped me to test it. You guys are the best!

To end on a positive note, I still did substantial amount of work to the map until just now. It is fully detailed with props, and looks GREAT. I also started collecting and editing sound effects, which are gonna be super dope. Thus, the map is looking pretty much completed. HOWEVER, the reason I'm not releasing is because there is still a substantial amount of final tweaks and finesse that I must do, and I simply haven't got the time right now. xxx

The BETA Version. Wow this took me a LOT of time and hard work. I mean, a lot! I really challenged myself to the limits as a level designer.

BUT... its here!

What does beta version mean? The map's theme and aesthetics have been actualised to a good degree. This IS essentially the final map... HOWEVER, without the fine detailing. No props, no decorations, no final touches, and still some unsolved problems and bugs.

Before all these final layers are added, I need to guarantee that the map is playable. That's where you come in :) The specific questions I have for you are:

- Is the map smooth to play? (Any glitches, bugs, LAG, or anything else that disrupts your experience?)

- Is the map fun? (Do you just have a great time, round after round, using strategies to play and win?)

- Does the map look good? (Do you like the look and feel? Is there anything that could be made better?)

Your answers to these questions, plus ANY other comments or thoughts that you have, will be amazing for me to hear :)

Map STRATEGIES

The bridge is the key choke-point in the map. Whichever team controls the bridge, controls the game. That being said, if the CTs win the bridge, there are plenty of hiding spots for the Ts on the T side, inside the buildings... ;)

CTs must rush in this map. Defensive play-styles will result in overwhelming opposition if the Ts rush the bridge. However, 1-2 snipers stationed in the CT houses will help the CT team to counter-rush.

If Ts are low on money, they have the option of hiding in the T buildings. However, then it is a game of cat-and-mouse, and Ts should hope their hiding spots are good enough...

Map TACTICS

The map allows for any weapon in the game, as long as it is used in the right position in the map.

Due to the extreme vertical differences, and multitude of windows and doors, players should be cautious at all times when venturing across the bridge.

Players should stay "smart" in this map, and refrain from rushing too aggressively. Make sure that there is cover nearby at all times, and when engaging the opposition, move in and out of cover, while bursting shots at them.

Its really a game of chess. E.g. first move: take out the sniper in the window, second move: move two players across the bridge, third move: take out the enemy under the bridge, fourth move: station a counter-sniper at a window, fifth move: hold back and see what enemy team does, etc, etc, etc.

    Very nice idea and implementation, I like it =)

    By the way - it strongly reminds me of one map, DE or CS_cantelever, if I'm nor mistaken. There were also a bridge with train parts. I like maps like this one =)

    I find less and less problems with this map every time there's an update. Only a few comments and 1 nitpick. So far I like the feel of the textures. It's kinda going for that Italian picturesque mountain village.


    This wall texture, however, feels out of place for me. It reminds me of a surf shop for some reason. Then again this is still beta so I'm not sure if this is final. Also that's just personal opinion so it's not a necessary fix.



    This niche is genius. It takes my idea of 'looking both ways' but does it with minimum effort. I'm not against taking simple and easy solutions as long as the end result works properly.



    Back in alpha this room made little sense to me in a real world point of view. Now that it's textured it feels alive and more plausible. I guess I just want to commend the great selection of textures here...

    I like the theme! Kinda reminds me of csde_canali in some ways, but I like this layout more. Very nice!

    First impression, this map is Great. Really recaptures the old fun maps back when CS was fresh. I can't do much test currently cuz lack of free time but I'll try to do a bug-bust walkthrough asap and maybe some suggestions later.
