Unable to run bioshock on Win 7 [BioShock] [Forum Threads]

the title says it all

okay so i got bioshock yesterday. i installed it on my new pc. but the problem is that it won't run. when i open bioshock after installing it, its just going to a black screen. nothing is happening at all. is there any problem with the game? or is it a problem with windows 7 incompatibility. methods tried 1 : run as an admin didn't work 2 : compatibility mode also failed. my specs is way more than enough to run bioshock but i'll post it if it's any useful

Windows 7 is gay for compatibility you cant run half the shit you can on vista or xp basically either ignore it or revert back down

Weird. Bioshock worked for me on Win7 64-bit. I heard alot of people have problems with that black screen, google should help, i think.

okay i did some googling. turns out that bioshock has a tendency of running the game on directx 10. i found a solution that putting a -dx9 at the properties solved it. THREAD CLOSED!

Your incorrect that was Vista that refused to have any compatibility, Bioshock never ran properly on any operating system I had trouble running it on Vista as well, and on Windows 7, The resolution is the biggest problem with Bioshock.

Don't know what you're talking about. I'm running Windows 7 Ultimate and have had no problems running anything. I had some sound issues with Elder Scrolls Oblivion. But that was taken care of with Creatives Alchemy. Oh, I did have a problem with BF2 but running a dual boot with XP Pro solved that problem. After all its a 5 year old game. Maybe you can try dual booting too. Its not had at all. If you want to do that. I can help you. I also want to ask if you are running the Steam version of Bioshock or are you using a installed one from a disc version.
