**AFTER RECENT UPDATES YOU WILL NEED TO EDIT THE PAK01_DIR FILE MAUALLY, DO NOT USE THE ONE INCLUDED IN THIS ZIP FILE.**
*Apparently uploading updated high res screenshots breaks this site, so so appolgies for them not all being up to scratch, it seems to randomly pick which it uses*
Based on the fact that Zoey is supposed to be a fan of horror films (she even makes a few references to the Evil Dead films) I put her in a black Army of Darkness sweatshirt using the official movie poster for the design. It should work even when puked on by a boomer.
My first skin, hope you enjoy it.
If you have no other skins installed then all you have to do is unpack this zip file into the LEFT 4 DEAD directory (as a precaution, backup your whitelist.CFG and pak01_dir files as they will be overwritten).
If you have other skins installed then place zoey_coloraod and zoey_color_it files into materials/models/survivors/teenangst. The open up pak01_dir with Notepad++ and replace the 2 lines that read $baseTexture "models\survivors\TeenAngst/zoey_color" with $baseTexture "models\survivors\TeenAngst/zoey_coloraod".
If you have any problems with the skins not working (pink and black textures appearing) I suggest replaceing the pak01_dir file with the original and extracting the teenangst folder from it using CCFScape into the Left4dead/materials/models/survivors and reinstalling the skin.
I have reedited the Files manually and it works now.
1.Create in the "survivors" Folder the Folder "teenangst".
2.Extract the original "zoey_color.vmt" and the "zoey_normal.vtf" at the "teenangst" Folder.
3.Put the "zoey_color_it.vmt" at the "teenangst" Folder and rename it to "zoey_folor.vmt".
4.Open the original "zoey_color.vmt" with Notepad++.
5.Change "$baseTexture "models\survivors\TeenAngst/zoey_color" to :"$baseTexture "models\survivors\TeenAngst/zoey_folor".
6.Put the "zoey_coloraod.vtf" at the "teenangst" Folder and rename it to "zoey_folor.vtf"
7.Open the pak01dir.vpk in the Game Folder with Notepad++.
8.Change the line with: $baseTexture "models\survivors\TeenAngst/zoey_color" to :$baseTexture "models\survivors\TeenAngst/zoey_folor".
This works with the latest updates for the Game.
But, there is 1 Prob.
When Zoey was bashed from the Boomer, she looks Original ?
Greets and sorry for my Bad English.
To anyone who has problems installing the skin be aware that this was put together long before L4D had proper Add-On support and so if you throw it in as is it will not work, you'll have to rework it to the new system in order to. I don't remember the method being too difficult, but I honestly can't remember how to do it off-hand as it's been a very long time since I've done any textures for either L4D games.
I'm glad people are still wanting to use the skin but I'm afraid you'll have to get it working yourself.
The Folder "teenangst" is not existing in my Game.
I put it manually in the Folder.
I have editet the VPK file.
Game does not start!
Extracting the "survivors" Folder with CCFScape of your VPKdir doesn't work.
It's an Error File.
This Skin looks Great, but it's Shit !
Sorry, for my bad English.
I found a fix to the hair problem!!! :) im not the author but i like this skin so i was messing around to try and find a fix and i did.
so what i did was i installed it and followed all the insturctions that came with it and then i went and downloaded zoey_hair.vmt and coey_hair.vtf from
i put these two files
(zoey_hair.vmt and coey_hair.vtf)
C:\Program Files\Steam\steamapps\common\left 4 dead\left4dead\materials\models\survivors\teenangst
then i ran the game and it works!!! the hair now shows up at all times.
i hope this helps out all those users who wanted this skin.
Yeah the quality is kind of keeping this great idea to a crawl. I really like the idea you've got with this one though, somewhat original for me on the account of I don't look at many l4d skins, but I like it. I recommend re-opening your graphic editing program and giving it another shot and doing all you can to progress the quality of the image and then I can honestly and dearingly give this a 8 or a 9. But before that I'll have to give it a 7.5.
Keep at it!
