Hi i made this skin in about 20 mins i removed the wood and replaced it with metal. Yes its all grey but so was the gun in real life. I am currently working on a darker one and a more higher quality one. thanks McGee.

Posted by Wile_E_Coyote You asked for proof - http://www.gunsamerica.com/guns/976475551.htm Clearly states Bakelite. All Bakelite grips were supposed to be dyed black but many times it was not entirely successful, hence the brown or reddish hues often seen.

The grips were always made of Bakelite, from the first MP38 to the last MP40. It was was the earlier grip assemblies (frames) in the MP38 that were made of aluminum. Those were later changed to steel frames in the MP40. Aluminum grips seen on MP40's today are aftermarket post-war reproduction replacements for broken originals (Bakelite can only take getting bashed around for so long, definitely not 50 years)

Yes on the Newer mp40's but if you can find me a pic of one that was issued during ww2 and not some jap replica or a toy one please be my guest because they were never mass issued most mp40's issued were the full pressed metal form ones. Also the first german issue fire arm to use early plastic was the FG42. And actually mp40s that had the early plastic were most probaly prototypes it was cheaper at the time to keep making them out of metal =) The fg42 was the only gun to really see little service with the newer style of plastic hand grips. So yes the model is incorrect in the fact that it never eally saw service and was never widley produced on the mp40 ww2 issue firearm.

Why must people keep saying that the real one didnt have it? In real life, the mp40 did have that thing you all keep calilng wood on teh side, but that isnt wood. it is a early, and cheap form of plastic used for hand guards and other things on the mp40 and other weapons...so to make it final. not all mp40s had it, but many did.
