A collaborative effort between myself and fat_al, done sometime prior to June 2005. I say that because I can't find the original release thread, but I know that fat_al re-released it in June 2005. The pack contains nine NPC models for the zombie, with new animations, increased detail through the addition of internal organs and a zombie player model for multiplayer, for whatever use in-game you may have for them. Note that this does not add all nine into gameplay (I wish I could do that, but I'd need to recode the game), you can only use one at a time in standard Half-Life, or three at a time in Opposing Force, Blue Shift and Sven Co-op. Extract them and rename them appropriately to "zombie.mdl", "zombie_guard.mdl" or "zombie_soldier.mdl" depending on your preference. The NPC zombies in the pack are as follows:
- Black operations zombie
- Burnt scientist zombie
- Construction worker zombie
- Evil security guard zombie
- Half-Life 2 beta styled zombie
- HECU zombie
- HECU zombie variant (getting on the head is one thing, getting through a gasmask is another!)
- Scientist zombie
- Security guard zombie
The animations and the Half-Life 2-styled zombie were based on the pre-release videos of Half-Life 2 and were made before the game was released, so they don't very well represent the zombies in the final version of Half-Life 2.
Animations - fury_161 and Gearbox Software
Base models and textures - Gearbox Software and Ambient.Impact
Miscellaneous textures and organs - fat_al
HECU zombie variant - Szarak
Black operations zombie - Arachnid-X
Alternate headcrab texture - Gaming Lord and chubby
Qc work, player convert, compiling - Sabre
These credits are as accurate as fat_al and myself can remember from when this pack was produced and can deduce from looking back into archives, as neither of us have the original readme anymore. Some people may be missing from the list. Neither of us can remember who made the construction zombie and the burnt zombie, although I have a sneaking feeling Gaming Lord did the burnt zombie. If you do know who originally created those two zombies, please don't hesitate to contact me so I can add the relevant credits.
Date of original release: 2004
Thank you so much, to everyone who contributed to this! This is an absolutely fantastic pack and I will never forget it. Unlike nearly everyone else, you have an immense amount of very helpful author information and licensing that is not only in the description but included in the pack Readme as well. I really wish more people could keep track of things like that.
This, to me, is just a beautiful and flawless collection of zombies anybody would want. The variety and specific model ideas, along with the brilliant work of textures is incredibly well done. Just wanted to say thanks, because it is the best and most well executed zombie pack of all time. I have no improvement suggestions.
Animation: Really nice to see some custom animations and I bet they are great.
Functionality: Huge! Would be great in many mods.
Model: Models looks cool too and its nice with some variation instead of the default zombie only.
Texture: Nice work on the textures.
