So this is the first model import to Heroes with a custom skeleton! Animations were ported directly from SA2 with some minor edits here and there. Is this mod a sign of things to come? Who knows~ As for why cutscenes will crash, they rely on the base character models to have the same bone structure. This could technically be fixed, but any fix I could do wouldn't look pretty without a serious effort to remake many animations.
Would have done a voice mod too, but right now there's not a pretty way of doing that for heroes and I doubt people want to download a 1gb+ file just for that. For bigger mods in the future though, this may very well happen...
So recently, MainMemory created a tool for Sonic Adventure 2 that put animations into a more reasonable format. With that done, I decided to make an importer for them for the .nj converted models ItsEasyActually explained how to make from the normal SA2 .mdl models. It took a bit to get animations coming in properly and to export them all in a way Heroes didn't mind (all kinds of issues come up porting complex stuff like this between games), but here we are.
As a side note, the script I made also has an export function to edit SA2 animations as well so maybe something will happen wit that in the future. I've been considering adding support for SA1 as well, but that may be involve either some help from others or a lot of busy work on my end.
