Have you started messing with layer effects yet? Right now, the colours of the pads are too bright, too saturated, and too clean.
If you mess with the layer effects, you should be able to tone down the saturation, and provide a bit of "grime" or such to make them look less like they just rolled out of the factory.
Right now, they look a bit more like a TF2 texture than a HL2 texture.
Try using the drop down box at the top here where it says Normal. A couple of the more useful styles are Multiply and Overlay but it really depends on what your different layers look like. Different effects will work better in certain circumstances.
If you haven't yet, I'd highly suggest you save your stuff as a .PSD file as well. Non-destructive editing is a good state of mind to keep when making textures.
