Please, download and play TF2 classic when you can. It is a true labor of love; this mod is just a cheap substitute.
This mod is essentially some of the world models from TF2 Classic (which were made to look as good as their enhancements of the viewmodels) brought over as universal weapon models. A few weapons do not use custom models (I could not get these working properly), they use custom textures and/or vmt's. I did this just to flush out the pack. The rocketlauncher isn't my best work so feel free to use a diferent 2007 skin with it. Most of the weapons in this pack use w_model textures, so many pre-law skins that include a world model texture should work on the: bat, bonesaw, bottle, fireaxe, flamethrower, kukri, minigun, medigun, pistol, shotgun, smg, sniper rifle, the syringe gun and wrench. Any other weapons will require the post-law skin. This pack will never be skin compatible. If someone is willing to go through the effort of doing this, feel free to use this. Just give the same credit to the original creators of the source mod. They deserve all of the credit.
It really wasn't that hard to make this. I'm surprised no one else has done this. TF2 classic has been around for a while now. I suppose nobody noticed the world models were so detailed.
This mod will allow you to use V_MODEL texture mods for: Pistol, Shotgun, Shovel, Minigun, Wrench, Sniper rifle, SMG, Syringe gun, Medigun (bat, bottle, builder pda, destroyer pda, kukri and bonesaw still use v_models)
newer c_model textures will still need to be used for: scattergun, rocketlauncher, grenadelauncher, stickylauncher, revolver, knife
the sapper uses c_items textures
the fireaxe still uses the v_model texture, but it's in c_items, renamed to c_fireaxe
Just when I thought that having the old Sniper and Medi Gun viewmodels was enough you go and port the others as well. Even though the difference isn't extremely noticeable without a side by side comparison it's still great.
Hopefully this little project gets more attention so that skins can work with them.
It seems that using this mod causes item icons to not load in the loadout menu along with the kritzkrieg's model to be replaced with the normal medi gun which is very odd, but other than (and the fact that skins don't work) that this is a pretty good mod.
Another strange but very minor bug I've noticed is that the little blue flame on the flame throwers become a solid color, this could just be an issue on my end. Again, it's a very minor bug.
