SA2 Volume Controls - A Mod for Sonic Adventure 2.

Volume Controls finally come to SA2!

For the longest time, people have just had to put up with SA2 being incredibly loud and having horrible mixing; but today that changes!

SA2 Volume Controls allow you to change the Music, SFX, & Voice volumes separately; allowing for your own perfect mix! Just want the best mix out of the gate? Already covered! The mod's defaults already mix the game to the exact standards of the original Dreamcast release, long before the mixing went down the drain!

You can also control cutscene volumes separately! The HD version has completely new and horribly broken SFX mixing, but voices and music should exactly match Dreamcast! Beware however, some things you and I would consider cutscenes the game does not (eg. the pre-cutscene for the 1st Sonic & Shadow battle). There's not much I can do about this, since the game does not keep track of these at all.

Also included in this mod is HD exclusive 3D Directional Audio! With this enabled, sounds on your left will play more strongly in your left ear and vice versa! This allows you to easily detect where a sound is coming from with your ears alone! It's also great for immersion, you feel like you're really there! There's also a 3D Directional Strength option, which allows you to adjust how strong this effect is to your liking!

This mod also comes with a multiple sound fixes! Such as:

Chao World Volume Fix:
The Chao Garden is supposed to have double the sound falloff rate of the normal game, but this feature has been lost since Dreamcast, causing Chao world to be much louder than it should be. This option restores the double-rate falloff in Chao World!

Sliding Pitch Fix:
Most sounds incorrectly calculate their pitch due to an oversight with the HD sound engine, this option fixes them so they sound like Dreamcast and GameCube again! (Check the board section of City Escape for an example!)

Mech SFX Fix:
After Dreamcast, some mech SFXs got much louder and lost their pitch modulation. This option restores them!

Ring SFX Fix:
The ring collect sound is supposed to swap ears as you collect them; the HD port miss-flags the SFX call for this, breaking it. This option restores the correct flags and this functionality!

Misc. Audio Fixes:
A small compilation of Pitch, Directional, and/or Volume fixes! Including Tails' flying SFX location, Metal Harbor's rocket volume falloff, Mad Space's fireball volume, and other minor fixes!

------------------------

If you chose to use this mod, remember to disable other mods/mod options that fix volume issues (eg. 50% SFX Mod, SECW's Enhanced SFX Volume option, etc). Cutscene Revamp also includes quieter music that will now be too quiet; to disable it, just head into Cutscene Revamp's mod folder and delete the ADX folder!

With that short monologue out of the way, happy mixing!

  • Excuse me.  When you say disable other SFX mods, does that include the Cutscene Revamp SFX Fix mod or the one mod that fixes the SFX in the Super Sonic and Shadow transformation scene?  I found both mods on PCGaming Wiki along with this one.

Something very handy, as Sonic Adventure 2 has awkward sound mixing.
    Old school, but still cool

Hi! I've found another issue that doesn't seems to happen in vanilla that I recorded here:

    Issue on Mission Street Video

It seems sirens in Mission Street changes pitch and speed according to the character speed, pretty funny.
I'm pretty sure that is not in DC, I also tested on City Escape and this does not happen.

you're doing god's work, but i have a suggestion, if possible. i spent a while trying to work out an audio balance i liked, but i noticed that a lot of the time a good balance for stages aren't as good for cutscenes and vice versa. is there any way to make separate settings for each? if not, that's cool. still a great mod that we've needed for years!

The only time I had to put games on Mono was when I was using a headphone in which the left ear didn't worked so in Stereo I couldn't hear certain things.
