Fighting in the streets of Boston!

Intro

The terrorists are planning on using biological and incendiary munitions to demolish the city of Boston, Massachusetts. To make the impact worse they must first destroy the medical and fire prevention facilities of the city, hindering Boston totally helpless against their violence.
Terrorists: Destroy one of the two bomb targets. Kill any CT's along the way. Counter-T's: Prevent the T's from planting the bomb and kill any you find along the way.

Changelog for de_Boston (Since the beta):

-Improved the interior lighting and added more props.-Added a NAV mesh with place markers.-Made Sniper area above BombSite A (for CTs to cover the entryway).-Added a ladder for Ts to counter act the CT cover over the wall at mid.-Made fire pole climbable.-Made the approach times to choke points more even.-Added more env_cubemaps.-Made long halls where sniping occurs have more cover.-Made OverHead view map easier to read.-Made long approach for bombsite A more balanced

FUN MAP INFORMATION:

-I started this map in November2006 and Finished April2009 (2 years and 6 months).-This map was redone 4 times because I was not satisfied with the layout.-Total compile time in Hammer: 1h 32 min.-There are 2 pictures of me represented in the map.-Although this map doesn't represent Boston 100%, it is based on the Back Bay area.-I took 2 trips to boston for reference photos of building structure.-The skyline near BombSite A is a photo I took across the river at MIT.-I kinda regret adding sk3maps.com so much in the overhead view.-People of Boston like the Red Sox 100 times more than figure skating. :|

    As already said, the street parts are great, very realistic and obviously you spent a lot of time on it. On the other hand, the interior parts are far from this quality. They are unrealistic, and their layout is weird. Of course you have to pay attention to gameplay, but that not a reason to create connection between places which have nothing in common. By the way, it is a nice idea to leave the doors open, but where are the doors ? The various props seem weird too. It looks like you just put them there because you need to. The layout seems very artificial. It will probably play well, and it won't be as weird if the maps has an industrial look. But as you choose a realistic location, you have to respect that choice and create realistic layout, passages, houses... As a last note, the CT spawn is ok, but the T spawn is dull, and unrealistic.

    Pros: The map looks quite realistic! I have been in Boston many times before and I must say, you did a nice job recreating the style of the streets and the realism. The weather, plants, and the style of the buildings is amazingly identical to the real life counter part of this map. Cons: There are some parts that should be blocked off a little, because it's possible to go outside of the map if you find a good route to get out. You should be able to fix this with some invisible textures like Biohazard said. Improvements: Some invisible textures to blocked off the bugged buildings that you can climb out of would be really nice. I would also suggest fixing up the inside of the apartment a little, it feels too empty in my opinion, a table in the middle or some small things on the shelf would do nicely. Notes: Great map my friend! You really captured the feel of Boston in this map, this is definetly going into my favorites and I'll be sure to download this map and use it. I can't wait to see other maps that you are cooking up like these, if you live in Boston like me, then try Fenway Park, that should be a cool map and you can get really creative with it.

    Pros: -Looks amazing, the dedication you put into this map really shows -It's a very versatile map, it's fairly even when we play it with 32 people in the pub but can also be played in a 5v5 scrim Notes: Thanks for beta testing this with us over at AHP, it's been nice to see it progress into what it is today.

    I thank you.It's nice I had such a quick answer :P I think this map could have a future, with those things fixed. Well, no, I don't use color correction, and I even use the brightness at max(Don't blame me, blame the de_train makers :P) Hmm, I understand what you said about the clover but I think that it looks too random in middle of the road.Wouldn't it be better on a wall?I dunno, it just makes a bit too much of contrast. Oh and by the way, I feel like a few ramps on the map should be stairs, it would look better IMO.

    Anonymous...Thanks for the honest review. I feel the static props are better as breakable...mainly incase the bomb goes unter a table and it can't be reached. The yellow lines on the road ARE a little too yellow...but I felt color correction would have fixed that(do you run color correction?) I kept it that yellow because it looks great in contrast in my opinion. As for the going outside the map..I tried very hard to fix going outside map clitches. I did leave it so you can jump around on windows on purpose. The way I see it, in a pub, by the time you try to get outside the map...you'll die trying. In that link2 screen-shot...I will DEFINATELY fix that in the future. Again...Thanks for the feedback. I can take honest crits like that and appreciate them. Oh...and the clover is for the celtics! ...and the fact there is a HUGE irish population in Boston. -Sincerely Sk3tch

    This map is beautiful in every way. Its realistic, it looks like Boston, and it depicts my favorite city in the world. Growing up in Boston and seeing this map is truly amazing. Fantastic job on the map, fun game play and balanced. Ill be sure to be playing this a lot. The architecture you did is godly. Its so real along with everything else in this map. And great job to everyone that helped you with this!
