Overview: This map is set around an alley way, set in the still standing City 19. The problem is that the only few surviving humans are stuck here do to the combine's quarantine of the city. The only thing left to do is SURVIVE!.
Got my inspiration for this map from different areas in HL2. In this map i really tried to focus on game play and looks. . Many of the ZM maps out there are heavy on gameplay but look like crap. Lots of props to throw around, has a very dark feel to it. FLASHLIGHT is YOUR FRIEND! There are 24 spawns scattered all around the map in different areas. You can explore most buildings, V2 hope to make it so you can go in ALL buildings.
THis is only version 1 Im going to begin work on version 2 and hopefully fix a few bugs.
Things to do:
*1 Hiding spot left to build
*Certain areas require optimization (although should not affect your game)
Please leave feed back and ASSES!
*Note* This map was previously named zm_backalley_intel
Thanks to (For coming up with the name)
Here is a video teaser of what the map looks like
You really need to fix the balcony glitch. A talented CT can jump hi way at CT spawn, up the balconies, where he can see to the bottom of the map, and shoot the zombies off even with a p228. the weakest gun in the game. Let alone if he gets something like a shotgun with ZM ammunition.
Pros: Great gameplay and ambience. A very convincing map for a zombie setting. Variagated use of space to immerse the player in a nice range of the fear spectrum: claustrophobic corridors and rooms, open spaces in the courtyards to add vulnerability and exposure. I found some barricade places could be used to too much of the human advantage especially if a lot of them get into the room early enough.
Cons: I spotted a few brush alignment errors which looks like a bit of multiple selection and resizing errors in hammer which leave gaps in buildings brushes in the second lower courtyard. The fog is nice but doesnt blend in with the sky which can be distracting and detract from the atmosphere. maybe go for something that is closer to sky colour or use a fog ring.
Improvements: Some gaps in brushwork (will point them out if you like), tweak the fog to make it blend in more. Reduce amount of barricading props in some of the smaller rooms.
Notes: Good, good map. With some refining, will be a brutal map! I gave it a 9 in terms of first effort.
This seems to be a map that is worth playing or atleast trying out, i am gonna ask my friend to put it on her server so i could test it with people on it.
It deffenetly is a big map with lots of places to hide and a lot of props to block with.
The envoirement is dark and creepy , just like a zombie map should be, not sunny with daylight like most of the new maps are made.
I like how you have used areaportals and how the envoirement changes so if that even the zombies can hide if needed.
I watched the video twice to see if there is enough detail , and i saw alot of detail. Some areas actually remind me of good movies. This map is as realistic as a zombie map can be. You have even created fog what makes it more creepy and more realistic.
About the teamplay. The zombies will certainly haveto struggle to get into some places and i saw a few spots where you could camp with m3 and not a zombie would touch you. But i am not 100% sure because i haven't explored the map from theese spots.
It seems like a nice map to play on but the fps what you have given is awfully low, imagine that on a server full of people and everybody is shooting. If it is a weak pc that is running the server or if a player has a bit older pc then he will certainly have lag. I suggest you do some optimizing.
And you have stated that vrad is none, i do not believe that this map is a fullbright map so obviously it is not a non vrad map.

Looks pretty sweet. It's defenitly one worth trying out.
The unfortunate side of making a beutiful map, is that you get more lag. So, try optimizing it as much as you can, to eliminate as much of the lag. Cuz when you're getting 21 FPS, and are only playing with yourself, and maybe a few buddies, thats not right.
Pros: looks good, which is rare with zombie maps ^_^.
Cons: look around, there are bugs everywhere, like a rubble prop with a shadow (first screenshot, above the C)or a balcony floating off the wall, or the scaffolding which you can jump behind.
Improvements: revamp the map, add more combine stuff (like locks, lights) the baricade is the only thing suggesting half life 2.
Pros: looks very nice, very HL2
Cons: i hope the 21-40 fps is just u, i hate playing maps that lag lol
Improvements: just the fps a wee bit
Notes: tx for making a zm map based on the HL2 creationism GJ
