surf_infinity

A Map for Counter-Strike: Source

Surf_infinity is a combat/freestyle surf map designed with fast paced ramp combat in mind. This was designed and tested on 66 tic and 150 airaccelerate, though should be fine on other settings due to it being a combat map. This map was not designed specifically for deathmatch, but it should be great for it. map created by Rscar skybox by Shini Thanks to all those who helped test and to paper cut and other solid surf members for advice.     Posted by YDN_oblivion A great battle surf map, I noticed that if you put the sv_airaccerelate too high above 150 you get an invisible wall bug, so any server admins reading this, don't put it above 150! It's a well put together map with really nice ramps and arrows showing you were the boosts are. I would have put the boosts to be a bit stronger to make things easier for noobs. Few complaints; the boosts on the edge of the platforms are hard to see as they are identical to the rest of the platform, remember in surf buck they have a different texture so can be identified easily. Optimization is average and could be improved such as nodrawing unseen parts of ramps. The jail is a little boring as those arrow boosts in it are too weak, more ramps and more arrows boosts in the jail would really make it much more fun. Nothing is more satisfying than using many boosts to gain speed to knife someone, and lots of boosts in jail helps you avoid anyone shooting you from above, which is great fun. The gun spawn points are a little annoying as the lightning effect obscures your view of which weapon it is, would've been great without the lightning effect. Also the shotgun is a little difficult to get, was this intentional? A great designed map, did you get help/suggestions from Buck on this?     Thanks for the advice, i didn't do the boost stronger because I didnt want it to be too easy to get around, though i feel it already is... I would agree that my optimization could have used some work. And as for the jail, the idea of the boosts is so people will be able to build speed and ramp out of jail. The shotgun- there are actually two shotgun spawns, one under the middle platform and one on the highest middle platform, I didnt want to make either too easy to get because I figured this map would have a fair amount of ramp combat, making the shotgun the ideal weapon.

    If you'd use a different water texture and a better skybox (high-res) it would be a 10/10 in looks.

    Looks killer! it has an original look for it, the texture scheme is pretty sick, overall looks like you spent a lot of time on it, and the brushwork /rampwork looks pretty nice.
