A Map for Counter-Strike: Source

A smallish map with many difernent ways to get to diferent areas and in a sandstorm.

Well this is a map that has changed in each compile. It started off clean and simple. Then it went stormy wet and less sandy. But I then changed it back to sandy but this time made it into a bit of a sandstorm. Well only a bit but it doesn't really need to look like the real thing. :D Worse computers could struggle because of the HDR, colorcorrection and the fog. But if you have a new good computer you should be fine on it. This took me alot of time to work on the brushwork and fix all the errors I have came across. But it is finally made. I hope for some constructive 'critic' feedback. Thanks, drimp. Note: If need be I will make a v2. Thanks KarateKaefer for the skybox.

    Pros: I really love the detail put into this map; A very unique environment and map. Good, balanced gameplay. Cons: The colors are a little monotone, which isn't necessarily bad, but doesn't mean it's good neither. Try using more colors! :) The HDR is very strong for this map and maybe not needed. Improvements: Fix up the heavy brightness you get from the HDR. Notes: I found a few boxes that were not touching the ground in the map, might want to check those out.

    Pros: this is sweet. the sand storm stops the long distance battle and brings you in close for a real claustrophobic feeling. Cons: that one entrance to the lower center is slow to get in because of the height, but this may be planned as it doesn't ruin the map Improvements: none Notes: thanks for the effort

    Pros: I really love this map. it's very detailed. I think the gameplay will be very fast, theres many ways to go that's good. Also i like all the walls and obstacles. Everything is nice rounded. U didn't overuse the decals. The ambience is very rare i think. You have used a nice count's of boxes and barricades to hide behind. Great and pure HDR. It makes the clouds look brilliant. Also the map got a good form. The textures are well placed. The brushwork is brilliant u must have used ages on that. Also the map layout is very exemplary very good for a gungame map. Cons: the maps color correction is okay. But actually i think it's a bit to bright, it's hard to see through the clouds. I think the clouds is a bit bad placed. They should be in a higher level, its just above your head when u spawn. So if u walk up the first ramp, it's hard to see the enemy. Also i founded a few bugs in your map. U can jump from a box to the side wall. And then u can see the "nodraw" on the wall. U should make playerclip around the side wall. Else i think it's a pretty pure and great gameplay, as many other guys said. It's a good FPS and it is. Maybe u could have made a 3D skyboxes with some heighted sand, or some pyramids. That would be awesome. Would give the map a very warm feeling. I know the ligthning is good for the skybox, but still i must say to bright. If i look up in the skybox it hurts my eyes a bit. Improvements: Think about the lightning if it's to dark or to bright. In this chase i think it's a little to bright. Hard to see the enemy, and be carefull about your walls so people can't jump out of the map. Notes: I like this map. Adding it to my favorite. I realised that you are great at choosing lightning of the map. Well it's nice to see a new good map from you drimp. Allways good maps. :) U should know im still here. I just got a bit in-active about making maps. But u still got what it needs i can see. I hope u can use my critic. Good luck Hope to see more and good maps as well from you soon. GJ.

    What do you mean by work on your brushes? The brushes are one of the best bits. Every one els said so. It took me around 2 hours to texture this and around 4 hours to do the brushwork and layout. Thanks for your rating but I just don't think the brushwork is bad at all.

    Yeah that floating box I forgot about that. Also I tryed to find a good sound to go with it but I didn't know what to choose. So I went for those sounds. Thanks for all of your feedback.

    All around a professional map, the brushwork is flawless. I'm not sure how long I could look at it with the insane brightness however. I'm not saying it's bad, it does deliver a nice look and warm fealing to the map. It's just that gun game matches usually last 20 minutes or so and I don't think I could look at this level for that long. But that's just me nit-picking. I don't expect others to feel the same way. Also one of those tall brown boxes aren't touching the ground. It's the one to the north of the 3 stacked crates in screen 6. I felt no decrease in fps when playing this and my computer is trash. So most people shouldn't worry about it.

    Pros: awesome attention to detail, your brushwork is excellent, the map is nicely designed for gungame as well. Cons: i dont really have any complaints Improvements: since you have so many high end details such as HDR and color correction, i suggest you could add an ambient wind/sandstorm-like sound to go with the swirling sand. also, to give it a bit more space for gameplay, you could allow easier access to the top of the map and raise the skybox ceiling a tad so you can run around up there. Notes: this is really excellent. i get very nice fps on it as well, i dont think it should be an issue for most people
