A combination of CP & CTF gameplay in a map of two castles facing each other
Fortess Faceoff is a combination of the two gameplay styles CP and CTF - attackers have to capture the control point located inside the enemy castle, above the enemy spawn. This opens the doors to the intelligence basement below the enemy spawn. Ones the doors have been opened they cannot be closed until the flag has been captured by the enemy.
The map is very well balanced and every class has a role and no class is overpowered. The map is great for large 16v16 battles but works very well with much smaller numbers of players as well.
More than anything it's a FUN map to play on!
Pros: Brilliant map idea and its about time I've seen a map that isn't just another 2fort remix!
Cons: A few tiny, small texture issues.
Improvements: Fix the texture issues, keep making the map better overall!
Using BASE HL2 content (from the "source base *.gcf") is not illegal since that content comes with TF2. I can understand why it's frowned upon (and in this example, he should've been able to use the grass texture introduced with lumberyard). Judging this map solely based on that isn't fair. You didn't even play it, did you?

Pros: You DID put effort into this right? All mappers should.
Cons: HL2 CONTENT IN ANY NON-HL2 GAME IS I-L-L-E-G-A-L! ILLEGAL! Nobody here seems to get it (especially Nalidor).
Improvements: Completely TF2-ize this map and I, aswell many others, will be much more accepting of this map.
You've evidently put lots of work into this to create something that's markedly different from the rest.
Too bad some people are going to come in and trash this soley for the sparing use of HL2 asses without having actually played it :(
