A Map for Team Fortress 2

Final Update!

It was bound to happen, and meant to do it sooner. I've updated the map to the official Valve entities for KotH. Have fun everyone! Important!! The file has been optimized. All of the required files are zipped into the bsp, there is only one file to worry about . . . the BSP. Updated Once more!! 1) Added a skybox! Credit goes to Lost for his excellent skybox I found on FPSBanana 2) Due to some complaints about the hold timer being too short, and previously too long, I have increased the hold timer to 8 minutes. That should be long enough o allow everyone a fun time. I believe I also added rounds, so if this timer becomes a burden, let me know and I'll change it again. 3) I finally remembered the cubemaps! 4) Fixed several graphical errors from before. As always, enjoy, and spread the word. Also, I'm currently working on a new forest themed arena map. Expect it within the next couple months. In-Game Instructions pop-up: Twisted - version 3 King of the Hill Objective: Capture and defend "The Hill" from the enemy team. First team to hold "The Hill" for a total of eight minutes wins. Note: - The timer displayed in the HUD is for the team who currently holds "The Hill" - If the opposing team takes "The Hill" from your team, your timer will not reset but remain paused untill you recapture the hill. - The enemy only wins win their timer reaches zero.     Great map, really like it :-) just one little point, which is probably immaterial since there is no fix: that the control point entity isn't visible at certain angles (at the top when it's on black), which I'm sure you new about. The textures are really good!! I love it because they are so different and surreal :-) Also being a mapper myself: Could you tell me how to get that glow around the control point? Thanks!

Was it a planned feature to add a touch of chaos and unpredictability? Nice work... Suggestions: Increase cap timer a bit... Once one team gets engies setup adjacent to the cap point, it is too hard to stem the tide and retake the point...
    Thank you for your complement. I was not aware of the bug with the respawn rooms, so thank you for pointing that out; unfortunately, due to a recent crash of my Windows op, I have yet to find time to restore my Steam. (Hence why I haven't released a certain map I was working on) However, no worries, because I recovered the hammer file (at least I hope) so when I finally do find the time to get Hammer up again, I'll make fixing the bug top priority. Note: About the timer issue, in some past comments, there was an issue with the timer being too long, originally placed at 10 minutes. I may increase the time a bit, but I really wish Valve would include some feature to allow us to make our maps work different ways. (I might possibly release 2 versions, 1 long and 1 short)

    This map is a blast, with none other out there like it. Only drawback we had was figuring out how the timer stuff works. Granted my server is full of stoners....

    Thanks for your input. These are the type of comments I'm really looking for, the ones featuring feedback on possible problems. I didn't even know that that dedicated server doesn't compress the txt, and forgot people could link to the file on a website. Just so that you know, I do plan on releasing a version 3 of this map, with a shortened count down timer (perhaps 6 mins should do it), when I do get the new version up, I'll be renaming the files to lowercase.

    Yeah, when I added it to my ded server I just changed the map name to "koth_twisted.bsp" and never had any issues. I agree about the time as well. I actually had this map going with a full (24-man) server and it played pretty well (on occasion, one team would get pinned down at spawn) but the 10 minutes did seem too long. Five would probably be ideal.

    Posted by crazychicken This map dildnt work on my server, i uploaded it to server fine and to me, i can play it on the server but the bzip2 file on my sv_downloadurl wont download to clients for some reason. all otehr custom maps work, and as far as i can see there arent any typos. i dont know why it doesnt work i like the styling if it is a little bland. i dont know how feasile it is for ine team to hold onto the hill for 10 minutes, might be too long
    Let me see what I can do. I too believe I may have made the time limit too large. Let me try to figure out what the problem is with not running on the dedicated server; however, I have not had much experience with the ded servers.
