This is the first map that i made for CS:S. it looks bad, because i was experimenting there with 3D Skybox and Displacements, also i only spent 1 day making this map.

    keep crafting! it always takes alot of time and this looks like a good start. i guess from what ive learned with my map making expeditions is that the ideal optimized way to produce a source map is by doing it in an almost maze like fashion. almost any incredibly detailed map that you could play online with 20+ players is built in this fashion and creators pull off some remarkable maps from what ive seen and play over 300 of them every day. from my maps you could see that i always approach the map with an open area platform surrounded by skybox which often leads you to overflow really quickly and really hard to optimize the map. most my maps are built heavily broken =[ but ive spent 100s of hours on each one honestly lmao... but im getting better too. keep working on them until hammer crashes on you allot and the game denies your map because of having too many objects and faces from brushes and see what you can do with everything that hammers got. my de_scrapyard map is literally basically the complete MAX the game and the hammer editor can handle. i couldnt even add lighting and its open area so i couldnt optimize anything significant really. you should check it out! and add me as a friend!
